Skwim, I love the feeling of movement in your boat picture!
Thank you. Your microraptor ( I'm assuming that's what it is)is well executed. I've always liked illustrations in which the trailing pieces of information start losing detail and are simply suggested .

Skwim the boat painting is very well done. I wish the pic was clearer. Though with the blur, the red at the top is mysterious / intriguing. The sails and clouds are very well done.
Thanks. The mysterious red is a ship's pennant. I purposely put it against a dark background to keep it from drawing the eye, which it would have done against a white cloud.

This is my only favorite artwork, made on an Internet Paint thing that lacked a lot of possible colours etc.

I just finished a weekend project - PIMP MY HEADBOARD. I did this in my guestroom - I had a queen size bed but no headboard in there.

I found an old 1970s French Provincial wood/rattan headboard (ugh) in a pecan finish - GAK! It had a big hole in the rattan, to top things off. I found it in a junk store, and at $60 I probably paid too much for it. But I had a vision...

Found the FABULOUS fabric on clearance for $20 a yard. Bought the faux finish crackle paint at Hobby lobby for $15. Brass tacks - $20. Batting for padding - $15. So I guess that total is $130.

Time - about 4 hours.

Here's the progression and the finished product:

Lovely headboard about to be painted. And check out the bald patch in my yard. Yes, it really is that dry here.

Faux crackle finish applied - but still no upholstery...

Finished headboard - now to take it into the bedroom and put it all together!

Here's the bed....and yes, women love pillows. Impossible to have too many.

Here's the whole room! VOILA

Close up of the headboard - could a fabric be any more delicious?

Fun, fun, fun!

Thank you, Painted Wolf! I was so pleased with it, that I slept in there last night (it's the guestroom)!

Absolutely stunning. What type of camera do you have?
The top two were taken with a Cannon Power Shot SX110IS
Canon PowerShot SX110 IS: Digital Photography Review

The bottom one with a hand held camcorder that also took photos... but I don't remember the brand, but it was most likely a Sony. I had borrowed it from the local public access station. (I had dreams of putting a show together)

I'd love to get a more professional grade camera like a dSLR. Unfortunately the camera I have, while only a couple of years old... has had a rough time of it with my son. I'm amazed it still works at all. If you ever want a camera that can survive a real beating and still function, this is the camera for you. ;)

I used Adobe Photoshop elements to do any image editing that needed to be done.

Oh wow, I've got the same camera! I've been really pleased with it. You've done a great job of editing.

I think my husband is buying me a fancy schmancy camera for Christmas unless he's playing with my emotions. We went and looked at them the other day.

I love photography. You've really got talent!

It's amazing what you can get out of that little camera when you adjust the settings just right.
I also love the multi-shot feature when shooting animals, I can usually get a couple of really nice shots that way.

What I really need is a tripod or steady stick to keep the camera from shaking.

The editing is really helpful if your picture comes out a little over or under exposed... or if you are going for an artistic effect like with my picture of the roses.

I'm hoping they are good enough that I can sell a few pictures. )(

OK, I just found and redid an antique wooden stool today. I forgot to take a picture of it before I sanded and primed it, but here it is mid-process and then finished:
