I don't understand it my kids tell me I've been "sitting" in this chair for a while, and they want to spend time with me.

What does that even mean? To sit? I honestly don't get it.

I once had a book. (Can't remember where I put it though.)
"Sitting For Dummies" was its name.
I followed the diagram, & eventually learned how to do it.

It's the only way. But i'm pretty sure saw technology has evolved so that when you cut things it doesn't hurt. I've cut LOTS of wood without hurting the wood, and a few other things, so I don't see why a person would be different.
Please don't discuss cutting your wood.
