People that have been marginalized by society are told implicitly and explicitly that they should feel shame for who they are.

As a lesbian that grew up in a small midwestern town, I lived in the closet all through high school because I was ashamed: because of the things I could hear other people say on a weekly basis. I even went so far as to date young men, lying to myself, hating myself for it.

This culture of shame and fear over just existing is what pride is about: pride is saying I’m not going to be ashamed of who I am, I have no reason to be ashamed, I’m beautiful the way I am. I don’t have to lie to myself or anyone else anymore because it’s those that would try to make me feel ashamed that are wrong.

Being gay has nothing to do with being a stripper, I can’t fathom where you made that connection from. But you know what, I did that too as an undergrad, and I’m not ashamed of that either.

Socialists are manipulative and often rely on authoritarian rules and scoffs all form that doesnt comply to their group think, socialists hate free expression and sucks. With how USA is formed, you have two extremes. Extreme Left and Extreme Right. The political system in USA is terrible because you only have two choices, and not several parties that you can ideologically agree with. And vote and see if they can get into power fair and square.

Right, gay pride is a movement meant to directly contrast with and reject gay shame, which has been the overwhelming imposition on homosexuality for centuries. This shouldn't be difficult. I'm not sure why people accepting who they are and loving their humanity without shame would be authoritarian or related to a particular economic system.
