Wouldnt that be like being proud of being a stripper? (Not judging)
Cant you just... have a day to celebrate Gay liberation movement and call it quits
But watched funny video by Denis Miller on it
edit: My theory. Gay pride is socialist authoritarianism.
People that have been marginalized by society are told implicitly and explicitly that they should feel
shame for who they are.
As a lesbian that grew up in a small midwestern town, I lived in the closet all through high school because I was ashamed: because of the things I could hear other people say on a weekly basis. I even went so far as to date young men, lying to myself, hating myself for it.
This culture of shame and fear over just
existing is what pride is about: pride is saying I’m not going to be ashamed of who I am, I have no reason to be ashamed, I’m beautiful the way I am. I don’t have to lie to myself or anyone else anymore because it’s those that would try to make me feel ashamed that are wrong.
Being gay has nothing to do with being a stripper, I can’t fathom where you made that connection from. But you know what, I did that too as an undergrad, and I’m not ashamed of that either.
