Why are people proud to be gay

Lars

Member
Wouldnt that be like being proud of being a stripper? (Not judging)
Cant you just... have a day to celebrate Gay liberation movement and call it quits :p

But watched funny video by Denis Miller on it

edit: My theory. Gay pride is socialist authoritarianism.

Um...being gay and being a stripper are not alike at all. How are you connecting the two?
Well being gay is who you are. Its not a skill is what i mean. If they want a historic day like "Workers day" or "Women`s liberation" or something, fine. You know. Cake, normal clothes. I am just saying

Being proud to be gay is just being proud of who you are in regards to how you see yourself and yourself in relation to others intimately. It's being proud that one can be with someone they love without being judged by what's between both partner's legs. It's religious rights and freedom to be oneself. To many it's going beyond sexual expectations society puts on them and like artist they can express themselves sexually without being judged by it.

It has a lot to do with identity. That's why people are proud. Children and youth grow up being told they can't feel, act, and experience love and/or physical attraction so when they get up to the point they are comfortable with themselves and take no mess they are proud.

As for gay liberation movement, I wasn't raised during that era. That's the activism part but not the message behind it and people's experiences are pride. It's more close to home.

Gay right should include.
- Not being abused or harassed for your lifestyle choice. Sorta like a public rule "No discrimination based upon ethnic, sexual or religious ethnic background" etc

No? I don't understand what you mean. The message of gay moment is about gay people proud of their history, getting through bad experiences, religious freedom, things like that. Children coming out and knowing who they are and comfortable with who they are with themselves and those they love. That's the meat of it.

That's how I see gay pride. There's no such thing as gay rights, though. Right to marry isn't a gay right. It's marriage equality rather than gay marriage.

If i came out pantless and bragged about being straight. Yeah thats lame bragging point. There is nothing proudful about being born a certain way. You just are. Having a date to mark the fight is fine. But the exposure nonsense is pure socialist propaganda

Maybe they feel proud of making it through years of being shamed and ridiculed. Pride really means self esteem.

All of your equivocations are just balderdash, btw.

I mean they are doing it fine to themselves now though. Its not like i look at it and think. Oh wow thats cool lol! If they focused on "good character, good values" then yeah i would admire that. Too bad liberals are too morally bankrupt to bring that to the thought process

If you were beaten, kicked out, told you had to change (even though you Done nothing), sent to conversion therapy, and disowned by your family, friends, and told by the church you're a sinner and can't be saved by practicing a lifestyle that doesn't exist, you'd be proud that later in life you overcame that and can live as who you are.

So people who are proud they are Black (generalizing) aren't saying they are proud because they have dark skin. There's a history involved in it and people's like experiences that get them through segregation, discriminations, and death. Same with gay people and other minorities in similar circumstances.

Edit.
With the video, being gay is not defined by who you sleep with.

Not sure how serious this all is, but gay pride is a direct response to the fact that gay people have been shamed for centuries for being gay. Displaying pride in your homosexuality or your loved one's homosexuality is saying "I don't care if anyone else thinks it's shameful; it's not". It's pride in the courage it still takes to be openly gay in our society and face the discrimination and bigotry that's still thrown at you.

Eh socialists do the same thing, but physical violence isnt ok at all. But Socialists rely on social manipulation tactics, to manipulate people and bring forth mangina values and mentally screw you in lots of ways.

Any backlash against that? Didnt think so.
