Why do christianity get so much hate?

YoursTrue

Faith-confidence in what we hope for (Hebrews 11)
Indeed this Superiority Complex is a horror

I am Dutch, and indeed the Dutch have been really horrible in South Africa and Indonesia and other places too. Small country that created too much harm. Huge karma for the Dutch.

Christianity has this ambivalence, schizophrenic madness, I call it. Trying to physically help others, while at the same time trying hard to emotionally and Spiritually kill them with their Superiority Complex
Many bad things have happened in this world.

In Hinduism reincarnation is tricky also:
From Advaita POV reincarnation is not true
From the other beliefs reincarnation is true
;)
How can any sane person make a decision?
With so many variables and contradictions

I do the same, try to balance Yin and Yang
And
That seems enough to me.

As my Guru told us:
"Be happy, others will be happy, all will be happy, God will be happy"
When I heard that I instantly felt "happy".
Finally something simple, and do-able

Note on God:
It has been said "God is smaller than the smallest and Greater than the Greatest"
(Another one to add to the confusion)

The best advice I was given:
Solve the question "Who Am I"
Other questions will be solved simultaneously

More practicle and definitely more easy than solving "Who/what is God"

Love, Peace and Blessings to you
And that is what I like about Hinduism, it is open to many paths, becaus it is based off of experience and opens you up to your own experiences. Maybe one mustn't make a decision at all but must linger on pondering many possibilities.

Balancing Yin and Yang is possibly enough for me too. It helps me cultivate what I yearn for.

Your Guru is very insightful. :) My sifu says, when asked how we are today we should say: "Better than yesterday, not as good as tomorrow."

He also says:
"Pain is weakness leaving the body." But that is him being a sadist XD

Your note on god seems to me to emphasise that he is unfathomable.

Solving the issue of "who am i?" Is certainly the best question to ask. My girlfriend taught me that. And then I was finally able to find myself. Now I am happier and more at peace.

I prefer the practical myself.

Love, Peace and Blessings to you too.

This is why I say, the superiority complex undermines all the good qualities and causes aa sort of schizophrenia.

I agree.
Especially considering the advice of the Wise:
1) Past is past, Future uncertain, Present is all
2) Your Sifu "Not as good as tomorrow"

Believe this gives hope, and reduces suicide

Exactly my thought too, hence I never try to know and understand God

Makes sense. I love this one, thanks
But that is him being a sadist XD
I doubt that. I take words of the Wise very serious, and usually they are perfect.

My first idea:
Pain is a symptom that you do somthing wrong, usually eating wrong. Correct your mistake, usual excessive desire, which is a weakness hence his statement "pain is a weakness leaving the body"

Yes this is it. Pain is always an indicator of something. Either something wrong, your body telling you that you must fix something, or your body complaining because of exercise (especially in the case when he teaches us martial arts) in which case thr pain is a sign of your body actually improving itself.

Taken further, effort and overcoming obstacles are a form of pain, but that effort means that you are growing in knowledge, improving your career or improving your lot in life.

Great success is gained through great effort which cause great pain.

And such pain is momentary while the ned results they bring can be long lasting.

Not as good as tomorrow does bring hope. And shows that whatever effort you put in on a daily basis means that you always have improved the next day, which means you are better off. So with such effort you will always be better than the previous day in what you put effort in. And I agree, this type of thinking can help with suicide as well as depression.

God cannot be fathomed which is why I appreciate Taoism so much. "The Tao that can be told is not the eternal Tao".

My girlfriend truly is a precious gift to me. She has helped me grow so much and recover from past trauma. Later on did I find that she is spiritually inclined in a way that she believes what she truly believes, including Egyptian and African spirituality (She is from DRC). She used to attend a Hare Krishna group during her studies. Her father loved Egyptian religion and after he passed away this year we found out that he was heavily into Hinduism. She has a fascinating family.

And Thanks. :)

2022dec, I had cancer. I tried fasting on fruit for 30 days; didn't solve it. I told God 30 years ago "if diet can't cure, I accept death". So, I kept my word, and stopped food and even water, ready to "die". After 9 days not 1 drop, I was cured miraculously, and took it as a hint to start eating and drinking again, knowing "still lots to learn"
(Hence I really liked your Sifu's quote)

YES. I Love Taoism. Amazing Wisdom

I believe any sincere Path guides you right

Congo, I guess

Amazing, and the opposite of evangelizing
His family didn't even know, wonderful

Your experience with cancer is shocking. I do not know what to make of it. But I am very happy that you are cured! Glad you like my Sifu's quote.

I love Taoism too. The Eastern faiths tend to appeal to me more. And with Taoism I am even practicing through Qigong and Taijiquan. I regard them as practical faiths.

I am also of the belief that sincere paths guide you right. Faith is very much a person not knowing the path but feeling it out experience. Something that is difficult to deal with because we aren't comfortable with not knowing.

Yes my girlfriend is from Congo. I want to attend a Hare Krishna session with her at some point because she feels she wants to visit.

Her dad seemed very secretive. He was a well travelled dude. She didnt even feel comfortable expressing her spiritual beliefs with me until this year because i still maintained that JW and new atheist condescension towards peoples beliefs. I had to weed it out of me. I think her dad was antagonistic to towards abrahamic faiths for the same reasons I dont care much for them anymore.

Yes, it says God hardened Pharaoh's heart. That is not unusual when looked at from the perspective that Pharaoh was a person with a lot of power and God could have intervened and made clear that Pharaoh got the point beforehand. But He did not.
That verse is the most controversial verse debated amongst Jewish theologians as it really doesn't make much logical sense if taken literally.

Were you a Jehova Witness before?
Were you brought up as a J.W?
Are your parents still J.W?
And as a reaction you became Atheist?
I had to weed it out of me.
Good to hear, and remarkable. How did you managed to do that? Your girlfriend or your Guru or your Conscience or ...?

As I mentioned before, the Scriptures declared that Spiritual arrogance (condescension) is almost impossible to overcome

I do remember that the Koran also has a verse, clearly claiming something like: do you really think you can change another person, if it's Allah who decided another path for that person
(Is one of my favorite Koran verses)

Interesting to see this also in the Bible:
"God hardened Pharaoh 's heart"

I liked Hannibal's verse (A-team in 1980)
"I love it when my Plan comes together
But even better
"I love it when God's Plan comes together"

Amazing, how God serves me exactly what I need, and even more amazing, that it's exactly what I feel is right.

Was a Jehovah's Witness?
Yes

Was I brought up as JW?
No

Are my parents JW?
No

Did I become atheist as a reaction?
Not immediately. I still considered myself a Christian but then a Reformed colleague invited me to her church, i went, and realised they wanted to take advantage of vulnerability at the time and indoctrinate me in their group. They were the ones who made me realise I have to throw of what beliefs I had and start from scratch. But that turned me kinda into an intolerant atheist. I needed the atheism to recover, because really even though i disagreed with JWs theology I loved the people in it so I was literally leaving close friends and my social circle. And it has been a great journey so far. There was a lot of trauma I had to deal with along the way but I have recovered fully I think.

My girlfriend was the one who point out my prejudice because she is quite outspoken and always questioned why I appealed to authority, quoting others, rather than having my own opinions. That woke me up. My conscience then started to play a role. Oh, my girlfriend also interpreted a dream I had which I had an uncanny visceral reaction to, saying that I was being lead by a spiritual guide. I thought nothing of it until I started doing Taijiquan for health reasons which exposed me to undeniable experiences.

I think that spiritual arrogance is quite difficult to overcome to. A lot of the time we arent aware of how arrogant we are. Right now, criticising Christianity, how arrogant am I in doing so? We must strive to be better, be more aware of ourselves, accept our failings, and try our best to reach a higher spiritual plain, with each cycle of our lives.

Thank you for sharing. That was my guess, remembering the Scriptures declaring "it's almost impossible to let go Spiritual Supremacy"

I was lucky not having brought up in a strict sect. That gave me a chance to find my own Path, relatively easy. Still lots of work to do

Understandable. And I can relate, as I have been with a J.W. group for ca. 8 month.

Most of it felt good, but their Superiority Complex "killed" all their good deeds.

Fantastic to hear. Congratulations.

True. I decided to always say sorry, if someone tells me my words or actions hurt them, and of course fully determined to not make the mistake again

I have had similar thoughts, and finally I realized
Right now, criticising Christianity, how arrogant am I in doing so?
I don't criticize Christians:
1) Christians criticize me
2) I declare "STOP criticizing my faith"
3) I give them my boundaries
4) IF they choose to violate my boundaries
5) I tell them "No Respect = No Contact"

It is their choice to disrespect me

It is my duty to respect God, Love, Truth, myself

They don't follow the 2 Great Commandments

Their choice, their responsibility
We must strive to be better, be more aware of ourselves, accept our failings, and try our best to reach a higher spiritual plain, with each cycle of our lives.
True

I came across a useful quote in this context:
"If they loved you in the ways they claimed to love you, they wouldn't hurt you in the ways they deny hurting you"

Loving God and my neighbor as myself.
I fully agree with your first paragraph. My stance is that the Abrahamic religions saying that their group is God's chosen people feeds that us vs them mentality. Its injects it with steroids
I think it entirely depends on what a person means by "chosen." I mean, if I'm at summer camp and get chosen for Kitchen Patrol, believe me, I very much wish I wasn't chosen. LOL Yes, there are some Jews who think "chosen" means that they are better, but the Jews I've known have never been like that. *I* certainly don't feel that being Jewish makes me superior.

So what does the word "chosen" mean to me? It means chosen to receive the burden of 613 laws. Just as with KP duty, being chosen for 613 laws is not appealing. Nor is being victimized by antisemitism any fun. In Fiddler on the Roof, Tevye says, "I know, I know. We are the chosen people. But once in a while, couldn't you choose someone else?" :)
