Why do liberals and gay rights activists say that gay marriage is similar to interracial marriage?

Do you consider gay marriage to be similar to interracial marriage?

You're not getting the point

That's a completely fair comparison. Hey, you can even try this one: Prohibiting a white person from marrying a black person is no different from prohibiting a man from marrying a man. A white person can marry another white person, just like a man can marry a woman. A white person cannot marry a black person, just like a man cannot marry a man. It isn't at all discriminatory.

The point IS there is a difference... You cannot help what race you are, but you can help which sex you choose to be with.
Homosexuals enjoy playing that game riding on the coat tails of true minorities.
Did you choose to be attracted to men?
I didn't think so.

I don't accept your argument, if that's what you mean.

You can't choose your race or your sex. You can choose the race or sex of your partner (to an extent, setting aside "you don't choose who you fall in love with"-type romanticism). How are they different?

Did you choose to be attracted to men?
I didn't think so.
When someone says "homosexuality is a choice", I hear "the only thing that stops me from acting on my homosexual urges is willpower, and if I can do it, so can you". That's the only way it can make sense if the person is being sincere, IMO.

I am willing to bet that those with that mentality are greatly tormented by their decision.

Are you christian?
Yes.
Although you would probably disagree. I am also a deist. Neither you nor your human authorities on who is a Christian are particularly credible to me.
One of my favorite things about Jesus is His message "Don't put too much faith in religious authorities or ancient Scriptures". That message is all over the Gospels.
If so then you should know who you are in Christ and its not homosexual as that does not define you.
Homosexual does not define me. My marriage of twenty some years, but not me. I am much more than that. I don't even see it as important. It is you orientation bigots that go on and on about it.

Tom, you cannot be a Christian and be a deist... It's one or the other.
I never asked to be credible, BUT if you ARE a Christian you would know better.
You might as well be an atheist, because deism will get you nowhere with Christ.

Religious authorities? The only authority is GOD, and He even said homosexuality IS a sin, in fact it's an abomination.
You're right homosexuality does not define you, you were not, nor were you EVER born that way, you chose to be that way.
That is your opinion, I could careless who you have sex with, but in the end do not claim to be a Christian yet distort scripture to fit your needs.
You cannot serve both God, and the devil, you have to make a choice, or God will spit you out.

You CAN choose which race you marry or date, BUT they cannot choose how they WERE born period.
Homosexuals CAN choose, there is a difference, if you cannot see that then I don't know what to tell ya...
Please don't group races together with those who do have a choice.

How does procreation work? It takes a man and a woman. A man and a man nothing, a woman and a woman nothing.
Homosexuals were not born that way, at all, they were born to be with the opposite gender.

Interracial marriages between a man and a woman are normal, why? Because that is the grand design... Your argument isn't gonna hold up.
Other races cannot help that they WERE born that way, I unfortunately cannot say the same for homosexuals.

You chose your sex? Do you mean you've had sex reassignment surgery?

Specifically, it takes a sperm and an egg. Not a man and a woman. There are people who are infertile, and especially post-menopausal women who are infertile. So if we need to be specific on what causes conception, it's a sperm and an egg. Period.

All heterosexual sex does is make conception more efficient. Sexuality overall has much more elasticity and adaptation to it than penile-vaginal intercourse with male ejaculation internally. Limiting sex to just that is sooooo utterly boring.

I can say the same. They - and bisexuals like myself - are born this way.

Spent 20 years trying to NOT be attracted to women like I have been to men. Nothing worked. NOTHING. Worked.

So I stopped trying to change to appease a tradition and a community and a deity, and walked away from this toxic nonsense that had me with a gun in my mouth ready to pull the trigger due to massive self-loathing. And I embraced myself for who I am and my orientation fully and completely.

It's been over 20 years since I left. I'm much happier at a distance and more at peace.

Can't you see why you were perhaps suicidal??? I mean this with all due respect, but it's proven that the majority of self professed LGBT folk are more suicidal than their heterosexual counterparts. Why is this? Maybe it's because A. They were not born that way, it's all a mental illness. B. They know it's not normal.

I am sorry you went through that, that is terrible and it was not right... but to say it didn't work is sad really... I should know that it CAN work because I too used to profess to be a bisexual until I realized the truth that I was not born that way, and that it was not normal.

Yes it is... umm most interracial marriages ARE between a male and female. Also it's not fair to hang onto the coat tails of a true minority.
Society is composed of minorities, we are all a minority in some sense - people with brown hair, tall people, Lakers fans etc etc. That something is a minority practice does not make it any less worthy or moral.
