This has a lot to do with the supposed rejection homosexuality. The Greek philosophers influenced the Hellenistic culture that was forced down everyone's throats. In some instances Jews were killed for not adopting Greek culture. There was a reaction to that which may have influenced Christianity. Greeks though the nude form was so awesome and usually that men were awesome'r than women. Early Christians believed men and women were equal. The history of how Christianity eventually rejected a lot of Greek culture while absorbing a lot of Greek philosophy is a long one. Some ancient Greek philosophers proclaimed that male homosexuality was the highest form of love.
A perusal of the NT in English shows an obvious bias against homosexuality by translators, but its tricky because its not so clear when you look at each passage. The NT is not really concerned with homosexuality unless you translate it a certain biased way, although it is concerned with promiscuity in general and above all the wasting of time. Most people don't want to go through it with a fine tooth comb or question what it says on that issue. They'd prefer that it preached about issues that didn't directly concern themselves. Its how people are. There are very good alternative explanations for passages that mention homosexuality. There are several books that explain clearly where the biases lie. Of those who preach against homosexuality, they rarely focus on staying busy doing good works and it undermines their position and their claim to care what the texts mean.
