Why is Homosexuality EVIL?

I don't understand why homosexuals of whatever religion get bent out of shape that the god of their religion condemns them for the way he made them. Time to find a new god, one who accepts that it was him who made you that way and it wasn't a mistake. Just saying.

listen here, first off, god made adam and eve , not adam and steve. :D

but seriously, one may argue that god initially made humans straight, and homosexuality is simply a result of the fallen world man created for himself through disobedience.

so you will find christians who will argue that homosexuality is a disease, or rather a birth defect that needs to be cured.... others will say that its not even that, they will simply say its a choice.

but dont they oppose god's will by engaging in homosexuality?

According to my knowledge. If they knowingly oppose, then their intent isn't to do God's will. But, some homosexuals, as you say, find it acceptable. I'd call them Christians because of their intent to be Christians.

i see, so you are saying that what people find acceptable trumps god's will..

if some christians find it acceptable to engage in homosexuality you would call them christians because of their intent to be christians.

if some christians find it acceptable to engage in the killing of homosexuals you would call them christians because of their intent to be christians.

and as long as they dont knowingly oppose god's will, the slippery slope goes on and on,.....not so?

I think you're giving Abraham's clan a bad rap here. It's been a long time since I read Genesis all the way through, but I don't remember much being said about Abraham, or the God of Abraham, being particularly bugged by the existence of foreign God's. In fact, one of the last things that Rachel, Abraham's Grand daughter in Law, did before joining the clan was to steal her father's household gods and bring them back with her into the clan. God didn't seem to have a problem with this.

As far as being "angry with priests and prophets who sought to control every aspect of their peoples lives", I thought this is what the major modern gripe against religion was all about. :D

I'm making some assumptions on what the cultures of the area during that time period were like based on how the religions they inspired turned out. Not very scientific I know but I figure my guess is as good as the next guys. :p

That was Lot, Abraham's nephew. And it was daughters, plural. :p

Strangely, the Bible doesn't give us any indication that there was a single celestial eyebrow raised over that one either.

I remembered it was both of them because I remembered they talked to each other into how would they manage to "convince" his dad for sex (hence, the booz)

I just kinda missed the plural :D

Thanks for the aclarations you two.

Bible, gotta love it :D

Well, have to take into consideration that there was something like a 14 or 15 hundred year lapse in between the time that Abraham was supposed to have been and the construction of Genesis in any form that resembles what we have today.

Funny thing, in keeping with the topic, about the homosexuals in Genesis: other than in the story of Sodom and Gomorrah, there don't seem to be any.

I always thought this was strange. I mean, with all the people talked about in the book of Genesis, you would expect at least one gay person to have shown up somewhere in the rolls; like in one of the camps of the Patriarchs (Don't know how many people were in Abraham's troop, but Jacob's entourage was supposed to number 70), or from within the ranks of the Hebrews later on in Exodus (over 1/2 a million people there), or at least among the strangers and people they interacted with along the way.

Doesn't seem to be a one.

Which begs the question: if there were no homosexuals in, among, or around the ancient Hebrews, as the Bible seems to be implying, why would they need to come up with an ordinance prohibiting it in the first place?

Do you honestly think it likely that I would be saying something like this?

I think you do not wish to say it, but your reasoning pushes you into implying it involuntarily. If you follow your logic to the end you will not like the outcome. This is what happens when you are not strict with your beliefs. You might be fine on the surface but beneath the surface you will find to be at odds with yourself.

Didn´t they liked to kill them on spot? sounds like a good way to make them stay in their biblical closets.

That, and the thing that just because they weren´t written, doesn´t mean they didn´t exist.

Seems to be really hard to get my point across. That's not my logic. I think it's hard for you to understand me, because you don't understand Christianity. I'd have to write several supporting statements for everything I say. I'm not going to do that, though.

Nothing trumps God's will. Not sexuality, not homosexuality - nothing. Everyone has their degrees of intelligences. Everything is according to these degrees. If the intent is to follow God's will, and their intelligence is preventing them, it is no fault of theirs. However, it does not make anything that they do contrary to the will of God, acceptable.

It applies to everyone, Christian or otherwise. Which is why we don't expect mentally retarded individuals to do much of what more intelligent people are capable of. We also don't hold them to the same account for certain wrongdoings. Forgiveness and reformation are Christianity.

Because the sodomitesTried to rape god's man lot and god's angels......hitler was just punishment for the jews crucifying his son jesus.

Seems to me hitler came more than one millenium late to take on the jews that were guilty.

It would also render Jesus power useless (because "forgive them for they dont know what they are doing" would have had no forgiveness efect)

About homosexuality, Jesus didn´t speak against it once, so no problem with being a christian homosexual really.

The problem is most people are unable to change what they believe in. Well not without a lot of work.

Therefore if they are raised xtian then they are generally stuck with that.

I disagree. Most people stick with what they were raised in out of lazyness and not caring about religion. If you want to change your religion it's relatively easy and many do.
