Why is there no Prophet of our time?

The thing is that many who believe the scriptures and right and nothing can be added to them, are stuck in the past, they are blind to whatever may come after that. There have been many people who have contributed to the spiritual concept, their thoughts come deep within and they are shared to the world, but the ones who are stuck in the past never benefit by the words from these people, well its their loss.

The reason we don't see many prophets at our job is because we're a non-profit organization... :D

(Bad joke.)

If we look at the three major monolithic faiths from the time of Adam to the Islamic prophet Muhammad, throughout that period there has been a steady progression of prophets and messengers from God. Why is there no prophet of our time? Why has God chosen to be silent in our darkest time? It would be nice to hear the views of all religions on this subject.

Peace, Grendel,

Have you considered that there might be a Messenger for this time but the people reject him? All Prophet's are not always believed in by their people. Elijah Muhammad, who is represented by Louis Farrakhan, said that he met with God face to face and was commisioned by Him to be His Messenger. But like I said Prophets and Messengers are not always believed in.

Peace.

PS: My religion just for the record is Sabianism.

If you ar looking at the scripture and you are stuck in the past you are looking for God in the wrong direction. I will take revelation any day over tradition. The new wine is better then the old Yesterdays manna stinks

The way I see it, the social environments that enable the arising of Prophets largely no longer exist. And that is probably a good thing, too.

It is said that god doesn't change, he is the same yesterday and today, so if you call yourself a Christian you are in fact stuck in the past, because no one has changed the old into the new.

For Christian believers: We've indeed been given a way to know the truth, if we're willing to have enough faith to seek it in earnest prayer (James 1:5-6). This scripture also affirms our ability to receive personal revelation. This trumps all scientific and/or empirical knowledge or fact that would otherwise be required by those without faith in this gospel principle. It means that you can know with a surety if there truly is a prophet on the earth, by careful study and earnest prayer.

Or that they were written after the event. That's the thing with a prophecy, it can easily be fulfilled by any manner of interpretation. For instance you say that Jesus was the Messiah who fulfilled the prophecy, but the same could be said for Cyrus the Great. In fact many Jews if not all don't even look at Jesus as the messiah. A prophecy that is fulfilled is seen by all, it is not a "well I think it was, I think it wasn't" situation.
I don't believe an interpretation has value if it doesn't fit the prophecy. For instance is Cyrus the Great a King of Isreal?

I believe just because a person is a prophet, it doesn't mean he is a prophet of God and the term for that is false prophet.
The point I was making is that I believe all prophets are false prophets. Most modern prophets are out for profit. Profit Prophets if you will

I believe the earth is old but it is still here in the present. I believe God is here in the present also so I don't see any need to be stuck in the past.

Peace be upon you.

Peace be on you.
There was long struggle and eventually Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) was successful in establishing the message of Unity of God which contained the message of human right. Various fallen human groups woke up and learned the ways of physical and spiritual life.

Prophets do make Prophecy by the knowledge given by God. Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) was foretold by God that even though he is given perfect teaching, his message still has to reach the corners of the earth but:

=The ways and means were yet to ripe.
=The global village phenomenon was yet to come.
=The grand spiritual duel between true faith and faithless-ness and corrupted faiths (which were true in nascent form) was yet to take place.

Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) was revealed by Allah the Exalted, in Holy Quran:

HOLY QURAN, SURAH JUMUA (CHAPTER 62)

[ch62:v3] He it is Who has raised among the Unlettered people a Messenger from among themselves who recites unto them His verses, and purifies them, and teaches them the Book and wisdom, although they had been, before, in manifest misguidance;

[ch62:v4]And among others from among them, who have not yet joined them. He is the Mighty, the Wise.

ABOUT THE VERSE (62:4)
The Companion Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said:
One day we were sitting with Holy Prophet when Surah Jumua was revealed. I enquired from the Holy Prophet, Who are the people to whom the words,
;And among others who have not yet joined them; Salman, the Persian was sitting among us. Upon my repeated asking him the same question the Holy Prophet put his hand on Salman and said;If faith were to go up to the Pleiades, a man from these would surely find it. [Ref: Book of Hadith, Bukhari]

POINTS
i- The coming of someone, at the time when faith had gone to Pleiades [metaphor for extreme weakness in practice of faith] is being told as the coming of Holy Prophet Muhammad himself, which is obviously a metaphor too.

ii- It does not mean Prophet Muhammad would come again in person. [No reincarnation]

iii- Such metaphor is used about Allah in Quran too;..It is said when Prophet Muhammad threw handful of dust towards opponents, it was the hand of Allah who did so;..It is said during the Pledge taking under the tree, it was hand of Allah over the hands of believers;..Believers are asked to get colour of Allah;..Obedience of Prophet is obedience of Allah.

PREVIOUSLY: Coming of Elijah before true Messiah was explained as coming of John the Baptist.

iv- Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) has foretold about latter days; He has foretold the Signs of latter days in such a chained manner which cannot be forged by anyone. He mentioned Signs in heavens, earth, morals, economy, health, inventions, human right awakenings, astronomical changes, and many things.

v- He has foretold that:
a---- Esa Nabi-Ullah (Jesus, prophet of Allah) [Reference: Long Hadith is book of Hadith called Sahih Muslim] would come for revival of faith.
b---- Mahdi would come. He (p.b.u.h.) said: Mahdi is none but Esa (Jesus)..[Ref: Ibne majah Hadith]
c---- Please see above, we wrote the verse (62:4) and Prophet (p.b.u.h.) explained someone would come for revival work; he placed his hand on the shoulder of Companion Salman (from Persia)

vi-The Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) mentioned that there would be:
a-- Khilafat on the precept of Prophethood after him,
b-- then various eras of kingships with severity would come and
c-- then again khilafat on the precept of Prophethood would be established.
Then he did not say anything.
[Gist Ref: Narrator Companion Huziafa r.a. , Musnad Ahmad, Hadith]

vii- HOLY QURAN TEACHES A PRAYER IN THE BEGINNING:
[ch1:v6] Guide us in the right path;
[ch1:v7] The path of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thyblessings, those who have not incurred Thy displeasure, and those who have not gone astray.

WHAT ARE THESE BLESSINGS

[ch4:v70] And whoso obeys Allah and this Messenger of His shall be among those on whom Allah has bestowed His blessings, namely, the Prophets, the Truthful, the Martyrs, and the Righteous. And excellent companions are these.
Clearly, Prophethood is the first blessings of the four blessings mentioned.

RESULTS according to Ahmadiyya Muslims

1= Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) is the last-Prophet-with-last-religious law (Shariah) Quran for all humanity.

2= In Latter days (current era of 1000 years), Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.)'s ardent devotee is prophesied to come [spiritually metaphorically imbibed in the colour of his master (p.b.u.h.)].

3= The ardent devotee of Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) was titled in prophecies as Esa, Jesus, to signify, no fight.

4=This ardent devotee was also called Esa, Jesus, to indicate re-establishment of Unity of God.

5=The ardent devotee was called Mahdi, means the guided one: signifies he would get direct guidance from God [Ref; Tadhkira, words of God to him how to serve Prophet Muhammad and Quran, alislam.org (books)]
The ardent devotee was to be subserviant Prophet as per (ch62:v4) and Sayings of Master Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be on him).

6=Part vi above said that Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) foretold: ;c-- then again khilafat on the precept of Prophethood would be established;.These words are for the last era / this era. ;These words also tell that the promised reformer is a Prophet because 'precept of Prophethood' is said.

7=Accordingly to Ahmadiyya Muslims, the latter days is the ongoing era of (1000 years), the Promised Messiah Mahdi as Subordinate-Prophet to Last-Law-Bearing-Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) has been sent by God the Exalted in 1889 in India for the peaceful revival of faith, to bring humanity closer to God again. Under his fifth Khilafat, the Movement has reached in 206 countries of the world by the grace of Allah the Exalted.

8=It is also proved that there is Alive God, Who and His Messenger and Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) foretold the matter of coming of his ardent devotee subserviant Prophet with Khilafat, which are being proven before the eyes of everyone.

"Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is the only Islamic organization to believe that the long-awaited Messiahhas come in the person of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(as) (1835-1908) of Qadian. Ahmad(as) claimed to be the metaphorical second coming of Jesus(as) of Nazareth and the divine guide, whose advent was foretold by the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad(sa). Ahmadiyya Muslim Community believes that God sent Ahmad(as), like Jesus(as), to end religious wars, condemn bloodshed and reinstitute morality, justice and peace. Ahmad’s(as) advent has brought about an unprecedented era of Islamic revival. He divested Islam of fanatical beliefs and practices by vigorously championing Islam’s true and essential teachings. He also recognized the noble teachings of the great religious founders and saints, including Zoroaster(as), Abraham(as), Moses(as), Jesus(as), Krishna(as), Buddha(as), Confucius(as), Lao Tzu and Guru Nanak, and explained how such teachings converged into the one true Islam.

Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is the leading Islamic organization to categorically reject terrorism in any form. Over a century ago, Ahmad(as) emphatically declared that an aggressive “jihad by the sword” has no place in Islam. In its place, he taught his followers to wage a bloodless, intellectual “jihad of the pen” to defend Islam. To this end, Ahmad(as) penned over 90 books and tens of thousands of letters, delivered hundreds of lectures, and engaged in scores of public debates. His rigorous and rational defenses of Islam unsettled conventional Muslim thinking. As part of its effort to revive Islam, Ahmadiyya Muslim Community continues to spread Ahmad’s(as) teachings of moderation and restraint in the face of bitter opposition from parts of the Muslim world."
