Woke and DEI - good intentions, so-so, dogmatic solutions

When comparing rancid turds, the difference is negligible.
Trump won because of his predecessor.

Do you know there is the rumor that Melania Trump delayed her moving to the WH, because she wanted a priest to bless the building, first?
I mean...before moving there.

Enough said.
Of course it's just a rumor.

I thought Trump was the worst candidate ever, in your opinion.
Is DeSantis the lesser of two evils? ;)
DeSantis is just different. Both bring out the worst in conservatives. And this is dangerous as we are seeing in republican politics and domestic terrorism. These people pose a threat to democracy and safety.

I suppose effective propaganda is a part of the issue, but I would focus more on why the propaganda resonated with so many people in the first place. What issues, if any, does DeSantis appeal to, even if he uses demagoguery and false promises, and what could a competitor do to address these and gain votes? What are the underlying cultural or social problems that have given rise to such a significantly dissatisfied and divided electorate?

These are the overarching questions, in my opinion. Trying to address propaganda in isolation of these questions seems to me an exercise in focusing on the symptoms without tackling the root causes.
The appeal is "going back" to a majority white Christian hetero society, when things were "simpler," and when the majority didn't have to help anyone they didn't care about. If they stay well hidden, you don't have to acknowledge them.

You don’t have to be a single unified group in order to do as he claims. All that is needed to be done is for a percentage of your group to do it (perhaps the fringe portion of your group) and because that portion is allowed to be included in your group, the entire group gets the blame. If the DEI group does not like the bad name the fringe group is giving them, they need to separate themselves from the fringe group and say they do not represent our views.

Then is some, not the.

Not quite. Otherwise very few people would vote for GOP.
I guess they mean the values of functioning society within rural America: order, hard work, cooperation.
And that merit can make you become anything.
Rural America is dying though. Manufacturing left decades ago. Those who live there are more likely to be old/retired, poor and desperate. Populations are declining in these places. There are no educational, employment, cultural options. The GOP's free market policies caused that. We seriously need to revitalize small town American again.

I come from a country where political correctness is banned, and people are so blunt, that they couldn't care less about popularity contests. ;)
Mate, I come from a country just as blunt. Where the C word is used as a term of endearment
I doubt you’ll find that much support for that DeSantis here though
So that’s certainly no excuse

That's because the economic system is bad.
Small communities, perfect order, zero crime rate.

I mean...look at the Amish communities.

I heard the same thing about the Bidens when they moved in. I guess they wanted the White House thoroughly sanitized from Trump living there. They didn't want Trump's cooties.

I've seen it a lot at work, whenever they shuffle around offices and things like that. The new occupant insists on a thorough cleaning, as they don't want the former occupant's cooties.

It was a priest who spread the news.
It has nothing to do with cleanness.
It has to do with superstition...about certain religious and cultural backgrounds.
I mean many doubt Obama is Christian...

True! If we’re gonna quibble over semantics, but in the real world, the loudest voices in the group defines the group, and if the silent majority of the group don’t want to be represented by some of those loud voices, they need to quit being silent and challenge those loud voices that they don't want representing them.

I don't see why it would matter, although I think Obama attended a Christian church. Whether or not any of these politicians are truly believers or if they just pretend to be religious for reasons of political expediency, that's never really quite clear. Few of them ever seem to act like Christians, except maybe Jimmy Carter.

What is clear is that in the US, you need to belong to an élite to become president.
A person grown up in the suburbs, in a little condominium is never going to become President of the United States.
This is so different than Europe. It's a fact.

Obama came from a very elitist family, as well, from his mother's side.

Trump is trash compared to his predecessor.

How superstitious and imbecilic.
