Worst Movie Ever?

Name the worst movies you have ever suffered through.
Two Kirk cameron movies I somehow thought were going to be science fiction movies, I actually only watched the first one, about millions of people disappearing, apparently God had taken them all to heaven for some reason, and of course every phrases ended with either "praise God" or "thanks be to God" It was actually the first time I was almost physically ill from watching a movie.

I tried to watch Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon twice, but I fell asleep both times -- and I wasn't even drinking.

But...but...but Li Mu Bai !

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
I still love The Legend of Boggy Creek no matter how much anyone laughs at me.
Down By Law? The Jim Jarmusch film? I love that film!

Yes, my cousin is in that movie and he helped write the script and direct it. It's a pretty cool movie - I think probably his best one.

He's also in, or helped write, or directed, the St Tammany Miracle, Night of Bloody Horror (another HORRIBLE MOVIE!), the Brain Machine, Creature From the Black Lake, several episodes of Dynasty (THROWBACK!), and The Big Easy.

Pretty interesting.

I'm sorry to hear that. I've got it, but I haven't watched it yet.

I actually thought it was the best Coen Brothers movie I've seen. That's not saying much, though. It was OK, but I don't think I'd ever want to watch it again. Basically, if you like Coen Brothers movies, you'll like that one.

No, not seriously. I love Kevin Smith movies. :fight:

Did you like Clerks 2? Because that just reminded me of another that is right up there on my list for this.

Movies about Jesus are horrendous more often than not. The worst I've ever seen was The Passion of the Christ, with The Greatest Story Ever Told coming in a distant second.

What was it that you didn't like about The Passion of the Christ?

I watched it on a flight from Heathrow to Ben Gurion airport, sometimes during flights, one's film standards bend a little.

I thought it was Kevin Smith's worst movie ever, but I'm willing to overlook the great suckitude of Clerks 2 in view of his other work.

Just about everything. I didn't think the three hours of flagellation was either profound or entertaining. I'm not convinced by the people say, "Oh, it shows what Jesus went through for us," because apart from the fact I don't think he went through it for us, I know people personally who have suffered a great deal more, and would gladly trade their lung cancer or their AIDS or the death of their child for a single day of torture. I think it trivializes the life and teachings of Jesus by making the manner of his death the most important thing about him. There was no real character development and no real plot; the whole movie amounted to little more than a tableau of brutality. The only thing I liked about it was what I took the be the symbolism of Eve, as the mother of humanity, standing as a witness to the whole thing -- and then I found out that the female figure was not intended to be Eve, but Satan. In short, I don't think it's even necessary to bring up the whole argument about anti-Semitism to say this is the worst movie I've ever seen about Jesus.

It wasn't as insipid as movies about Jesus usually are; I'll give it that. But it was worse than insipid.

Oh, I understand. I still like several of his films. I just wondered what you thought about that one. I thought it was incredibly horrible. I only watched it because a friend brought it over and said it was good.

Of course, I'm not a fan of the original Clerks either, but at least it was as much of a suck-fest as the second one.

Is that all? :D

Eh, I thought it was OK, for what it was. I do agree on the whole "height of suffering" thing. There are at least millions of people who go through much worse than that. I mean, my sister-in-law's ex-husband's mom (I know, but she's closer than that sounds) lost her other son who was 21 in a car accident and then less than a year later lost her husband unexpectedly. That's a personal example that, IMO, is much worse than a day of torture.

Anyway, I guess I didn't read as much into it or expect as much out of it as you, which may be why I didn't hate it.

She Who is Lost
The Haunting of Molly Hartley.

Not only did the ending suck, but the director should go back to working at Safeway or wherever the hell he came from. It's like he watched one too many Hitchcock movies and said "I can do this!" You could literally predict what was going to happen based on the music. High-pitched violins - something's gonna happen, open the door, cue violins getting more intense! - nothing. Silence, whew it's all safe. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 - OMG actual scare!

Lame. It was so bad I actually did a write up on why it was so bad after I saw it. ----> http://celticravenwolf.livejournal.com/126357.html?nc=2

Interesting. We almost watched this last night. We were looking for "Watch instantly" movies on Netflix that were scary. We went with Quarantine instead. Not bad, but nothing special. From what you say, though, we definitely made the right choice, even if Quarantine wasn't the greatest.

Just saw Push that starred Dakota Fanning. 111 minutes long and I didn't understand anything from minute 1 till the end. I'm not kidding! Nothing at all made any sense. Had no clue about anything that was happening or anything that was said. If I saw this in the theatre, I'd be out of there in maybe 20 minutes. How could anyone follow any of this?

I followed it quite well actually. I liked it. I would have actually liked to have seen the rescue of her mother at the end. I'm sure they could work a sequel from it.
