The french philosopher Voltaire once wrote, "In order to converse with me, please define your terms." The definition of pornography is "sexually explicit material: films, magazines, writings, photographs, or other materials that are sexually explicit and intended to cause sexual arousal." In order for sexual material to be considered pornographic the material must have the intention to sexual arouse. If the intention is not there, the material is not pornographic. The key word is "intention". A few examples: A video of a naked woman showing her vagina masturbating would be considered pornographic in most cases. A video of the same naked woman showing her vagina giving birth would not be pornographic. To determine whether or not material is pornographic, the propose of the material must always be taken into account. Sexual orientated material is not always pornographic. Nowhere in the entire Bible is there any material that is meant to sexually arouse the reader. Therefor the Bible does not contain any pornographic material. Discussing intercourse, human genitalia or nudity is not always pornographic.
