Hare Krsna,
In my humble opinion, you need to have devotion to God to attain Moksha. Take that as you will, but I find that having religion helps. What then is religion?
Dharmam tu saksad bhagavat-pranitam. Religion means the law given by God.
Most people are very aware of the Advaita Vedanta view of Maya. Brahma satyam jagat mithya- Brahman is real, the world is false. Gaudiya Vaishnavism has a very different view on maya, it's nature, and how it effects the world and it's relationship with the world.
Firstly, a traditional...
On whatever level you want to look at it, most religions believe that the material world entails suffering and the realm of God is complete happiness. When Adam and even fell from Gods grace, they took the whole material world with them. Therefore, I guess God moved Heaven elsewhere and this...
Yep! It's not a Gaudiya Vaishnava or ISKCON temple, but it does have a wonderful alter dedicated to Radha Krsna and that's all I need. I Don't go there alot, I have my own home alter and chant infront of it when I can.
Also, I feel like many people try to find the truth inductively, meaning their own imperfect minds can skew what they find, or their perceptions of it could be slightly off. I think it's best to find the truth deductively, as if done through a Parampara. Meaning, instead of us finding the truth...
Yeah, that makes sense. For a long time I took everything in the Bhagavatam to be literal, but what it said about creation I took as symbolism to make more room for Krsnas pastimes. But as time goes on and I see how little we know about our place in this universe and how little we know in...
Well, in my case about a quarter of my life, but I'm only twenty going on to twenty one. I got into it when I was fifteen and going through alot of crap, it made me feel safe and took my mind away from material things. Hinduism has always had that effect on me, whatever is going on, I can get...
Haha, let's just say I'll be the best Gaudiya I can can be! And be warned, I tend to site scripture alot in my arguments! I'm very good at throwing scripture at people
Thanks for the welcoming everyone!
The devotional side of it, I have loved Hinduism and Vaishnavism for a while. When I started reading about Sri Mahaprabhu, I fell in love with Gaudiya Vaishnavism. Also, the chanting is nice! But, I respect and love all Vaishnava Sampradayas because they...
Hare Krsna
So, while looking at another thread it made me wonder how some of the Hindus here view the Puranas and Itihasas. Such as, do you view it literally, as allegory, mythical, etc. Or a little bit of each? And why?
Me personally, I tend to take it slightly more literally. Basically...
YES! thank you Ratikala! I am more of a traditionalist when it comes to scripture and I take them to be more real then alot of what science tells us. Mainly because we have imperfect minds, senses, etc. And therefore I doubt how accurate alot of our tech really is. If it is off by a little bit...
Most traditions who view their God as supreme over others are more dualist in perspective, or see that personality as a reality rather just a projection of our ego upon it. For instance, Shaiva Siddhantas, see Lord Śiva in three ways. As the absolute Para Śiva, the Paramatma or as they...
Namaste,
I am KrsnaDasa, currently on my way to following Gaudiya Vaishnavism. But I tend to enjoy and respect all forms of Hinduism, especially Vaisnavism:)
That's really it for my intro!
