This is a thread about the Exodus and it's annual celebrations and you want to talk about modern beliefs? Really?
I asked for any similar tradition to the Exodus and Passover festival celebrations. Nothing yet.
You want guarantees of truth?
All I can propose are some interesting...
Oh come on! A tradition which celebrates something like the Exodus is a very long lived and strong tradition.
And what are the 'these' that are much the same? Can you think of a couple of celebrations like that?
I'm a strong non-theist but I do think that there might be a historical...
Riders launched a thread about the Exodus in General religious debates, and in post 431 I wrote:-
Research in to sea tsunamis, seismic activity, spring tidal ranges, storm surges, rainfall flooding and more are most interesting in the marshes to the North of the Suez gulf (upper red sea). So...
Really ?
It would be so strange if our press reported all unsupported claims as myths!
A 'type of myth'? Maybe you could give different kinds of myths their own titles? :)
Can you actually tell me what I have claimed?
Have you read any post of mine that supports an Exodus through a drained...
Yes...... Need more.
You surely don't think that you can prove anything with an Hypothetical example, do you?
You haven't read my logical proposals, obviously.
'Logical fallacy' ???
It makes a lot more sense to call my proposals either illogical or fallacies....... But both together? :D...
For my opinion I need not prove anything.
You made the claim when you wrote 'myth' so if you feel able to prove that then go for it.
That a nation would celebrate it's memory long long afterwards is quite a good pointer to an event happening.
No you don't. You just have nothing.
I...
No God has warned anything.
You could be thinking of a nutter who lived on penal colony isle off Ephesia and wrote Revelation. He probably enjoyed the hallucinogenic effects of a wild mushroom that grows on Pentos?
But the idea of Jesus flying around up in the clouds with a sword that flicks...
Well if you accept my 'religion' you'll die one day and then slowly decay (or drift around wherever you got spread) as crawly things creep around and chew on what's left of you.
Or you could join some other bloomin' religion so that when you die beautiful maidens will serve your every wish and...
True.... I do love to hear about discovery, and because science cannot accept many conclusions as everlasting it is very modest with most of its claims.
I know........ All those wonderful artifacts and treasures beyond mankind's easy reach.
Again, I don't think that the Exodus occurred through the Red Sea. But I think it did possibly happen.
Well you got that right.
Indeed there could be evidence of chariot wheels in the Red Sea..... Correct
And it's true that any such finds cannot prove an exodus. In any case I think that any Exodus occured to the North of that sea but that's just my opinion.
And then you call the Exodus story a...
Now that would be fun!
I don't think that there was any escape across the Red Sea, possibly a Reed Sea (tidal marshes) to the North. But after 4000 years ....difficult to prove.
But I expect that interesting debris could be discovered on sea floors all over the Middle East.
Of course...you are right.
But because investigation and research can fail I don't think that we can use the word 'expert' like we do. At any one moment in development we are only at the cutting edge of discovery. One minute more and our opinion might reverse?
I don't know if or how EEGs can...
That is sadly the case.
Even at this time and in one language there can be debates about what a writer meant, and that's even when without language translation is necessary.
In the UK we've executed people (Blakelock) because their four word sentence had two meanings, one honest the other...
