My favorite times to pray would be before beginning anything, whether eating, bathing, heading to work, or heading home. As to which type, I honestly admire both, but I suppose I prefer freer sorts of praying, being that they’re more reflective of my unorganized personality.
Hi, @Vouthon! I suppose my conception of the Divine is more henotheistic than monotheist proper, though in certain aspects, it approaches monotheism to the point where it’s practically indistinguishable.
As for the word “Pagan”, what tends to be left out regarding its origins is that...
In Japanese history, followers of Buddhism in general, as well as specifically Pure Land Buddhists, were attacked and exiled, a few were killed, through various points, not only by established governments but also other Buddhist sects. This was mainly due to the insistence of Honen Shonin and...
One of the essential teachings of the Buddha is avoiding the extremes of both self-indulgence and self-denial. So, yes, abstemiousness is important in Buddhism.
Hmmmmm….my musical preferences are all over the place; my ears are wide open. Some of my favorite styles are early Punk (à la The Ramones, The Romantics, The Clash, and Death), Shoegaze/Dream Pop, Chillwave, 80’s New Wave, different kinds of Jazz music, Jazz-Rap, 80’s R&B, Classic Soul, Funk...
I don’t follow Jesus’s Teachings, but I don’t reject that He was a truly holy soul. Absolutely not! I simply chose a different path. Interestingly, Master Shinran’s Pure Land teachings do have rather strong parallels with those of Jesus, but this isn’t the thread for that.

Namu Amida Butsu.
This is sort of not accurate.
There is no Creator God in Buddhism, but there indeed are many other gods. They are taught as being themselves trapped in the endless cycle of birth, life, death, and rebirth, nevertheless they are venerable. In various forms of Japanese...
It’ll be a bit of long story, so grab some popcorn and get cozy!
Buddhism in general is named for the historical figure who came to our world as Siddhartha Gautama (also named ‘Shakyamuni’ for his clan of origin, the Shakya) and, after He attained enlightenment underneath a tree, became known...
Dear friend, I think you might have mistitled the thread, given the question. The Messiah figure in Judaism is not divine unto himself. Would your thread not have been more suitably titled ‘Jesus as God’?
To address the question asked, although I would fall outside the immediate religious...
Where to start, where to start.
I’m a blue-collar worker, a college dropout, part-time poet, a philosopher with his head stuck in the clouds, a soul trapped between heaven and the earth. I’m your hallunicating bookworm, your wonky yet hopeful romantic, your polyglot, and the fire that can...
Well, Josephus wrote using Koine Greek, not Latin. The early Western church used Latin.
So you truly believe Josephus said "Amsheeha allazey kaalatha eantha Alaa anbiyaa" really? And why does the Greek text differ so much? Dont you think you should scrutinise this more?
Yet I appreciate your...
