why do we look up to the infamous??

Because society is backwards. And as a result we live in a world where people know more about the Kardashians than they do people like Tesla, Darwin, etc.

Poll: Give up your religion to save a stranger

But what if it's the will of god that you should sacrifice your faith to save that person?

Poll: Give up your religion to save a stranger

But you then asked in what is the point in stalling death. As if, somehow, when you're supposed to die, then you're supposed to die. If you had ebola, then you're supposed to die.

Poll: Give up your religion to save a stranger

But wouldn't that contradict your earlier position? Surely, then, it would be better to simply die and be done with it?

Poll: Give up your religion to save a stranger

No not at the expense of your religion, just in general: Would you take the cure?

*[I believe] Atheism is an absurd worldview

What twaddle talk is this? Atheists find meaning in life all the time. I know I do. Look at Stephen Hawking, for example, he should have died decades ago but he lives on. Why? Because his life has meaning. Purpose. He is driven, and so therefore he goes on.

Poll: Give up your religion to save a stranger

But so are you. So if you contracted, say, ebola, you wouldn't allow yourself to be cured of it?

Try to prove to me your religion.

It's said that in the beginning there was the word. But which came first? The word? Or the thought behind the word? You can't have a word without a thought, and you can't have a thought without a word.

Try to prove to me your religion.

    Lol. This isn't proof.

The Bible Was Right. The Earth Is Flat.

Flat earth? Hell, it isn't even level.

    Non-Christians go to Hell

Unbelievers don't go to hell. The Bible (in revelation) is quite specific that they're thrown into a burning lake of sulphur. In short: exterminated.

    Repeal the 2nd Amendment

But you're not free. Not in any measure of the word.

'I went to a Trump rally in a Hijab...'

That's kind of the point of Trump though. He's a distraction. He's not going to win, and that's not his intention. But while you're focused on him, you're not noticing that Jeb Bush is just as insane...but Jeb Bush will win for this reason.

    Mystery Star KIC8462852

Yup. In such a case I don't think we'd even see the star.

A bit of a rough question about slavery...

No no. I had missed the fact it was the Islam DIR and I was being more generic to religion as a whole. :)

    Mystery Star KIC8462852

Gravitational lensing would disrupt the way we see the star and the 'pattern' in the dimming. That lensing wouldn't be a uniform phenomenon.

A bit of a rough question about slavery...

    Sigh. I missed that part.

A bit of a rough question about slavery...

You've been using slaves too. Ever bought a pair of jeans from the store? Chances are your computer parts are made from raw materials that were mined by slaves. Never forget that value for money often means slaves (sometimes children) working for no money in dangerous mining operations.

    Another Syrian tragedy (IS)

I think it's important to remember that these unfortunate souls were all (mostly) Muslim that were killed.
