I'm guessing that, besides the general ignorance, part of it comes from the idea that New Agers, Pagans, Witches, etc. are not genuinely in it for the religious belief aspect, but rather as a reaction to mainstream society. Like a fashion trend.
Or perhaps because New Age, etc. beliefs are...
Well, Christianity, as it is taught traditionally now, bears little resemblance to the religion Jesus taught and practiced. Even if we don't take "dying" into account, it should still change back to what it was!
I'd think it's cool, but it wouldn't really change my mind or anything.
A lot of it would depend on where it was discovered, though. If it was discovered in the Middle East (as your post implies), that would be cool. If it was discovered in,for example, India... it would still be cool, but...
See, both sides take them at face-value. This gives both a bad interpretation. The only differnce is that one side believes it, and the other doesn't. But a face-value reading robs the text of its meaning.
And let's not forget Matthew 11:18-19.
John came neither eating or drinking, so they said, "He has a devil."
The Son of Man came both eating and drinking, so they said, "Behold, a gluttonous man, a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners."
Wealth does nothing harmful. It is attachment to wealth that harms people spiritually. If George Harrison was wealthy, but not obsessed with or attached to his wealth, he'd be alright.
And, in the same breath, you say, "Christians uphold none of the Pillars of Abrahamic faith".
Besides, why do I need to get circumcised in order to follow the teachings of a Prophet? Isn't that just a physical sign of the covenant? I'm not even a descendant of Abraham!
I motion that humans are locked up in 3m by 3m rooms until the age of 25 at which point they'll be let out. Then, they'll be adults and they'll know how to behave like mature people.
