    Religious versus Secular Ethics

Have you ever met a secular humanist? I`ve known many, most are far more skeptical about even the possibility of a "Utopia" than most theists I`ve met.

New Study Strongly Suggests that Fox News Viewers are Exceptionally Misinformed

Hey, I said it was debatable, I didn`t say it was a winner! :) I actually agree with you Rick. There was no reason to compromise and in fact this compromise was my first best clue as to why Obama could`t govern himself out of a wet paper bag.

New Study Strongly Suggests that Fox News Viewers are Exceptionally Misinformed

That`s debatable. The health reform was watered down and geared toward corporate favor in a bid to get the Republicans on board. So the Dems weakened their best legislation in an effort to attain the impossible...Compromise with Republicans. Healthcare reform's bad compromise | Sahil...

"My Son Serves So You Can Be Free"

But do you believe you were/are defending the freedoms of your countrymen by fighting in these wars? If so..how?

The Power of Sex and should it be harnessed?

I`m not saying religion is the sole foundation for these biases. I`m not saying religion always "directly" plays a role in these biases. But, some of the biases have their roots in religiosity. Women ripping strippers is an excellent example. Why do most "culturally average"(sexually...

The Power of Sex and should it be harnessed?

I don`t think so, the stigma attached to these things is already caused by the "hiding" or inability/failure to hide sexuality to some extent. Yes, less emphasis on the importance of sexuality in characterizing a person. Less emphasis on the cultural stigma of certain victimless preferences in...

The Power of Sex and should it be harnessed?

Repression is the actual hiding/disenfranchising of sexual expression. Setting rules and constraints on what is and is not acceptable in any social environment. How it is harmful can be evidenced by many different scenarios. The high rate of suicide among homosexual teens. The taunting and...

    Baptist church signs cause outrage

I know, that`s what would make it entertaining. :)

The Power of Sex and should it be harnessed?

No, I`m not one who is easily offended and I don`t see how sexual expression can be harmful in whatever form it takes whether I find it distasteful or not. On the other hand sexual repression is evidenced to be harmful so I`d rather err on the side of the evidence.

The Power of Sex and should it be harnessed?

Define "blatant displays of sexuality". Exactly what should be kept private?

what i like about the Tea Party

I`m not arguing with ya Revolting as the only difference I see between the Tea Party and the Republicans is the Tea Party lacks blatant hypocrisy I find in the Republican party. As far as supporting what got us in trouble... *They argue for more power for corporate interests "DeMint vows...

what i like about the Tea Party

But they seem to be paddling like mad toward those falls. That`s the confusing part. They support the same exact policies that put us in the boat and shoved us down river. :areyoucra

    Tree of Knowledge

Ok, after some reading and thinking about it I agree with the FFRF`s tactic of using a secular/atheistic display to counter any religious display that may be present. It accomplishes a few things, not the least of which is the exposure of religious hypocrisy when theists call for the secular...

    Tree of Knowledge

Can you supply support for the highlighted section. I`m sincerely curious as I`m unfamiliar with this group. I believe I heard vague mention of them last year. If it is indeed their point that there should be no display then I believe using a display to make this point is ..dumb. Using a...
