Mount Mazama and Crater Lake

The Mt Erupted 7,700 years ago and the Indians there observed and recorded it.

The Temple I posted earlier, the oldest in the world goes back to the end of the last ice age, around 13,000 years ago.

The dinosaur lived for about 180 million years and their extintion by a meteor that hit the earth was around 65 million years ago.

Before that an entire different group of animals ruled the earth, going back some 400 million years.

Psalm 90:4 For a thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night.

2 Peter 3:8 But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.

See that it does not say a day is equal to a thousand years. It says "as" or "like" a thousand years. It's poetry.

when were "watches" invented. ;)

Wonder why it doesn't say a billion years anywhere in the bible?

We know the universe is 13.7 billion years old with a margin of error of 1%.

We know the solar system formed about 5 billion years ago.

When the earth first formed a day was NOT 24 hours.

"The length of a day 900 million years ago was only about 18 hours, according to a study in the July 5, 1996, edition of the journal Science. The study, authored by planetary scientists and geologists from the University of Arizona in Tucson, the Indiana Geological Survey in Bloomington, the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, and Colorado State University in Fort Collins, inferred from the geologic record that the moon has receded from the earth at an approximately constant rate over millions of years. The study results were based on records of ancient tidal patterns left in sedimentary rock in the United States and Australia."

How long is a day

Such as?!

Before the Dinosaurs - Pelycosaurs, Archosaurs, and Therapsids

"Like archeologists discovering the ruins of a previously unknown civilization buried deep beneath an ancient city, dinosaur enthusiasts are sometimes astonished to learn that entirely different kinds of reptiles once ruled the earth, tens of millions of years before famous dinosaurs like Tyrannosaurus Rex, Velociraptor and Stegosaurus. For approximately 120 million years--from the Carboniferous to the middle Triassic periods--terrestrial life was dominated by the pelycosaurs, archosaurs, and therapsids (the so-called "mammal-like reptiles") that preceded the dinosaurs."

Big Five mass extinction events

There were entintions before these but.

Permian mass extinction
The Permian mass extinction has been nicknamed The Great Dying, since a staggering 96% of species died out. All life on Earth today is descended from the 4% of species that survived.

That killed off the animals before the dinosaurs. Which gave way to the rise of the dinosaurs. They also know now it was caused by the largest volcanic eruption in earth's history called the Siberian Traps.

"Triassic-Jurassic mass extinction
During the final 18 million years of the Triassic period, there were two or three phases of extinction whose combined effects created the Triassic-Jurassic mass extinction event. Climate change, flood basalt eruptions and an asteroid impact have all been blamed for this loss of life."

BBC Nature - Big Five mass extinction events

They know now the impact was the final straw for the dinosaurs, which gave way to the rise of the mammals and hence Humans.

Dino Death Pit!

also in "There is another even more ancient Egypt that is known to very few people"

The Valley of the Whales

"There is considerable evidence which indicates that the basin of Wadi Hitan was submerged in water some 40 to 50 million years ago. At that time, the so-called Tethys Sea reached far south of the existing Mediterranean."

"OT states a Day of God is 1000 years."

where does it say that?

Savagewind answered that already. Though she interpreted that as poetry, but I interpret that literally.

"So, human generally in the sense of civilized and understanding was begin just about 160 years ago."

What, please explain?
Well, basically most people would agree that since the middle of 19th century, a new age started, in which humanity has been advancing very rapidly, in terms of science, technology as well as social and economical structures....which generally speaking can be seen as the appearance of a new human. I interpreted the Bible human creation on the 7th day, as the end of 6000 years from Adam, all of which, I believe, altumately has its root in God's "Progressive Revelations"

Actually what is interesting is in 2 Peter 3:5... we see it refers to the creation story:

"But they deliberately forget that long ago by God's word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and by water."

"the earth was formed out of water and by water" goes back to genesis 1.

thus it is fairly clear, a day is 1000 year in genesis.
