Translators give their own opinion, they don't represent G-d or Quran.

So, explain to me what "Alif, Lam, Meem" means. If you cannot do it, the verses of the Qur'an are not "presented in detail from one who is Wise and Acquainted", as Surah 11:1 asserts. If Surah 11:1 is a lie, then the Qur'an is not divinely inspired and Islam is a lie. I'll be waiting for your explanation of what "Alif, Lam, Meem" means. Also, don't come up with some philosophical rubbish that is alien to the Qur'an. The Qur'an asserts that all the verses are explained in detail, so if Islam is true, the meaning of these verses MUST be found inside the Qur'an and not outside of it.

The people of the times of Muhammad did not ask this question, not even the non-believers. Did they? Please.
If they asked this question then please quote from them.
This is verse # [2:2] of the Quran and the next verse is:
[2:3] This is a perfect Book; there is no doubt in it; it is a guidance for the righteous,

Why didn't they ask this question from Muhammad?

I don't agree with you.
One who believes that Trinity is a mystery, and cannot be explained, fails. Right?
Why the Christians of the time of Muhammad did not ask questions from Muhammad about the meaning of "Alif, Lam, Meem"? Because they knew it.

What question?

Alif, Lam, Ra. [This is] a Book whose verses are perfected and then presented in detail from [one who is] Wise and Acquainted.
(Qur'an 11:1)

Alif, Lam, Meem.
(Qur'an 2:1)

I asked him to show me where in the Qu'ran is the explanation of what "Alif, Lam, Meem" means. If he cannot find this explanation within the Qur'an, this verse is not "presented in detail from one who is Wise and Acquainted", as Qur'an 11:1 asserts. Then it follows that the Qur'an is not the word of God and Islam is a lie. He couldn't find the meaning of "Alif, Lam, Meem" in the Qu'ran. The truth is that nobody knows what "Alif, Lam, Meem" means. Supposedly only Allah knows. This makes the Qur'an a self-refuting book.

I just did a quick search and came up with this.

MEANING OF ALIF LAAM MEEM

and no, it's not the most persuasive argument I've ever read.

If you read the link that you posted you'll see that they admit that they have no idea of what this letters mean. Moreover, the "official" explanation is some linguistic argument written by an Arab Muslim. Hence, the official explanation is NOT found in the Qur'an. This contradicts Surah 11:1 that says that the verses are "explained in detail by someone who knows a lot".

These are abbreviations of attributes of G-d or abbreviations of phrases depicting attributes of G-d. "Alif, Lam, Meem" means Ana-Alahu -a’Laamu which is translated " I am G-d who is all knowing ". For more details, please read from:

Not true. Where in the Qur'an is this explanation? Provide me with the verses please. If you cannot find the explanation WITHIN the Qur'an, the Qur'an is not self explanatory, as it claims to be.

There are no valid explanations. But maybe one day you will understand. There are many verses like that in the Quran. But they are not just simply absurd. But there is a find that I will not discuss now.

Ill show you something from the bible which I doubt we will find explanations ever. But if you do I would like to see if you have any.

The LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them. And the LORD God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not beallowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.” So the LORD God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken.

After he drove them out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.

The Bible does not claim to be self-explanatory. The Qur'an does. Yet, the Qur'an is full of nonsensical things for which there is no explanation. What I can understand right now is that the Qur'an is evidently a lie. This is so evident that even a five-year-old kid would arrive to this conclusion after reading the first two chapters of the Qur'an. The Qur'an strikes me exactly as what it is: a book written by an ignorant Arab merchant from the 7th century. It is extremely morally reprehensible, it contains no wisdom whatsoever, it is plagued with historical and scientific errors, etc. It takes an extremely low IQ to believe that such a book is the word of God.

For example, take this verse from the Qur'an

"And He it is Who has made two seas to flow freely, the one sweet that subdues thirst by its sweetness, and the other salt that burns by its saltness; and between the two He has made a barrier and inviolable obstruction." (Qur'an 25:53)

Muhammad evidently thought that salty water and sweet water don't mix because when a river meets the sea you can see a clear separation between the two waters. However, this separation is only apparent, since actually both waters are mixing continually and end up by becoming one. Just go to your kitchen and mix salty water with sweet water. That stupid experiment alone is sufficient to demonstrate that the author of the Qur'an does not know what he is talking about. It is understandable that ignorant 7th century desert dwellers were deceived by Muhammad, but 21st century people with even a primary education should know better.

I gave you an example of what is not explainable from the bible.

What is nonsensical for which there is no explanation in the Quran. You made a general statement that a lot of hypocrites make saying 'full of nonsensical things'. Please back it up by quoting and explaining why its 'full of nonsensical things'. Which means it should be full of nonsensical verses. 90%?

Back up with evidence rather than making 'nonsensical' statements mate.

Can't you understand that that the Bible does not claim to be self-explanatory, whereas the Qur'an does? The Qur'an is evidently not self-explanatory, since the three letter that you can find in Surah 2:1 are completely meaningless and you cannot find ANY explanation for them within the Qur'an. This alone should show you that the Qur'an is a huge FAKE. Anyone who takes the Qur'an seriously should be deemed clinically retarded.

However wrote the Qur'an thought that salty water and sweet water don't mix, that the stars are closer to the Earth than the moon, and that the sun sets in a pool of murky water. What can be more ridiculous than this?

But again, thats not a nonsensical verse like I pointed out in the bible. Example.

You made a claim

Yes, the author of the Qur'an thought that salty water and sweet water don't mix (FAIL), that the stars are closer to the Earth than the moon (FAIL), and that the sun literally sinks in a pool of murky water (TRIPLE FAIL). Are you telling me that you really believe these things?

The author of the Qur'an also thought that bees ate fruits. LOL.

"And thy Lord taught the Bee to build its cells in hills, on trees, and in (men's) habitations; Then to eat of all the fruits (of the earth), and find with skill the spacious paths of its Lord: there issues from within their bodies a drink of varying colors, wherein is healing for men: verily in this is a Sign for those who give thought." (Qur'an 16:68-69)

According to the Qur'an bees eat all kinds of fruits. When was the last time you saw a bee eating a banana? Bees don't eat fruits at all. This book should be considered a huge joke.

Whoever wrote the Qu'an didn't know even the most basic mathematics

4.11: Allah (thus) directs you as regards your Children's (Inheritance): to the male, a portion equal to that of two females: if only daughters, two or more, their share is two-thirds of the inheritance; if only one, her share is a half. For parents, a sixth share of the inheritance to each, if the deceased left children; if no children, and the parents are the (only) heirs, the mother has a third; if the deceased Left brothers (or sisters) the mother has a sixth. (The distribution in all cases ('s) after the payment of legacies and debts. Ye know not whether your parents or your children are nearest to you in benefit. These are settled portions ordained by Allah; and Allah is All-knowing, Al-wise.

4.12: In what your wives leave, your share is a half, if they leave no child; but if they leave a child, ye get a fourth; after payment of legacies and debts. In what ye leave, their share is a fourth, if ye leave no child; but if ye leave a child, they get an eighth; after payment of legacies and debts. If the man or woman whose inheritance is in question, has left neither ascendants nor descendants, but has left a brother or a sister, each one of the two gets a sixth; but if more than two, they share in a third; after payment of legacies and debts; so that no loss is caused (to any one). Thus is it ordained by Allah; and Allah is All-knowing, Most Forbearing.

(Qur'an 4:11-12)

  • Wife: 1/8 = 3/24,
  • Daughters: 2/3 = 16/24,
  • Father: 1/6 = 4/24,
  • Mother: 1/6 = 4/24,
  • Total = 27/24=1.125
The total is not equal to 1.
