@ what is "Ajaapa jaap" ?
Jaap means.. to chant,
Ajaap means.. not to chant,
Ajaapa jaap means.. the one which is being chanted without being chanted.

Thus.. when refering to "Ajaapa jaap" GURBANI is refering to get an connection with this "Ajaapa jaap" or "Divine Sound" or "Word" which is preasent inside everybody. this "Ajaapa jaap" is the subject of listening insted of chanting. :)

reminds me of the nine steps of bhakti , ...

Shravanam- listening,
Keertanam- singing in praise .
Smaranam- Remembering god
Paad sevanam- Offering service to guru ,to temple and comunity
Archanam- Performing pooja offerings of respect to god and good people.
Vandanam- homage to the feet of the lord.
Daasyam- continual Selfless service to god.
Sakhyam- loving friendship with god , without thought for personal gain .
Atmanivedanam- total surrender to god .

blue I think is particularly relevent to this discussion:)

jai jai , ... then it is possible for us all to be in chardikala ,

a buddhist prays every day " may every one be happy , may no one ever be seperated from their happiness , may everyone experienxe equanimity free from hatred and attatchment "......this is not material happiness this is chardikala .

thank you ,

then just this line is saying , ...guru nanak says, .. be dead in the world in the same way a buddha says be detatched from ...

thank you also for the shabad , they are all so beautifull.
you will have me reading a little gurbani every day :)

it is what we are calling ahamkara , this false sence of self we should renounce ,
it is thie that binds us to maya and prevents us from seeing the lords lotus feet .

ya well said Rati ji , i too wanna add few words :p ,

those who are attached to Naam/Name there is always spring/joy inside .

Ḏekẖ(see/behold) fūl(flower) fūl(flower) fūle(blossomed) .
Ahaʼn (ego) ṯi▫āg(renounce) ṯi▫āge (renounce).

Dekh (watch/see/behold) ,ie remove the viel of Aham from your eyes ,there is spring /blossoming of flowers around
.

Basanṯ(spring) ruṯ(season) ā▫ī (came).
The pleasant season of spring has come;

An(other) rūṯ(season) nāhī((no ) nāhī(no).

There is no other season

Maṯ(not) bẖaram(delusion) bẖūlahu(lost) bẖūlahu(lost).
Do not wander lost in doubt and delusion.

another thing which makes this shabad very special from Raaga point of view is repetetion of few words .such as

fūl fūl .
ṯi▫āg ṯi▫āge
bovhu bovhu.
nāhī nāhī.
bẖūlahu bẖūlahu.
har hare har hare.
