Are Jehovah's Witnesses False Prophets?

Pegg

Jehovah our God is One
Again: A prophet has to be "authorized." No one has "authorized" the JWs. Therefore, they are not prophets, false or otherwise.

just a side point here, but does anyone realise that we have never claimed to be prophets?

probably not....carry on.

Jehovah's Witnesses teach people the Jehovah's Witness way is the only way a person can be saved. (They do not say it is so few words but I won't play the word game). Psalm 3:8 "Salvation belongs to Jehovah". If they know the way to salvation it MUST be coming from The Heavenly Father. A prophet is he who speaks for YHWH. They are speaking for YHWH in The Name of YHWH. Or maybe they are not speaking for YHWH as prophets as they claim. Maybe they are speaking for their god Jehovah.

What is it called when someone has to clarify that what they've just stated isnt really true but they continue to say it anyway?

im think its called slander...some may call it outright lying.

If Jehovah's Witnesses teach what God approves of and what God disproves of, how is that not speaking for God (which is the definition of prophet)?

Is the definition of prophet "one who speaks for God"?

I have seen you post scriptures and explain them here on RF.... are you claiming that you are a prophet?

btw, God speaks for himself through the pages of the bible.

whats the difference between a mouthpiece and a prophet?

No difference. I believe it's true that the founder of your religion published in your magazine a long time ago that he is Jehovah's "mouthpiece".

Who really is the faithful and discreet slave whom his master appointed....
Who is the appointing Master?

Jesus is the Master who appoints his slave. Who will Jesus appoint? I guess he will be the judge of that.

well contrary to your belief, Charles Russell never claimed to be a prophet. He simply led a group in bible study and published his findings which led to many people coming to know bible truths.

And the fact is that the Watchtower today do not claim he was a prophet... he was a preacher, yes, but a prophet, no.

You are talking in circles. If Jesus does the will of God and Jesus has appointed the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses to teach truth then can it not be logically concluded that anyone calling himself the faithful and discreet slave is also saying he is appointed by God?

You win OK? I can murder but if no one ever finds out so that I might be called a murderer, I am not.

I would like to say I have not called Jehovah's Witnesses false prophets. I called their claim of exclusivity false. The Governing Body is not the only ones who can know what The Word means. I do not know if they have really been sent by The True God or not. How would I know?

Finally, a spirit came forward, stood before the Yahweh and said, 'I will entice him.' And he said to him, By what means? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, You shall persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so. 1 Kings 22:21,22

Jesus appointed his 12 apostles to lay down the basis for his teachings. We have those teaching in the form of the Christian Greek Scriptures. No one needs to add to them, no new prophets need to come and reveal anything new because everything we need to know has been laid down in the Greek scriptures.

As christians, we are all expected to use those scriptures as the basis for our beliefs and teachings. Jesus said he will appoint a 'faithful' slave to be his steward. What would it require to be appointed by Jesus? Faithfulness is a requirement...faithfulness to the teachings of Jesus apostles as laid down in the Greek scriptures is a pre-requisite.

Jesus has been searching through all christian groups to see who has remained faithful to his teachings. If you are using the bible, it is not hard to determine who is sticking close to the it...in the end Jesus is the judge of that and he will choose who he will choose. The scriptures say he is going to choose somebody... we all have a responsiblity to do the same ourselves and hope that we have made the right choice.
