Are you equipped with a weapon?

Don't announce that too loudly. Home intruders like breaking into homes where guns are "securely stored" since it ensures the homeowner won't be able to use them.

It also ensures that a home invader would have to deal with a gun safe to get at them, so it typically isn't worth the effort.

Also, Canada's gun laws tend to be a lot less forgiving of recklessness than the US's are, so homeowners shooting at people is less of a thing.

It's not so bad to be honest. Ask my German friend. He was shocked that we weren't involved in shooting all the time.
I supoose to an extent it's the state of mind. I can imagine some Americans may feel uncomfortable in a country where weapons are largely banned. Plus they would be disgusted at the rampant Marxism.

Not of this world

Especially if that country was one where crime was rampant.
Take Haiti as an example.
What are gun laws like there? Let's see:
"Possession of firearms, ammunition, and dangerous weaponry is strictly prohibited to any person, unless the individual has a Haitian license or has been specifically authorized by Haitian authorities."

If I were living in Haiti right now and was unarmed, I have to admit that I'd feel uncomfortable. I'd still be uncomfortable if armed, but not as much.

Anyone who doesn't want to get eaten but a mountain lion/bear? At least where I am.

Edit: While walking a trail here I had a mountain lion run up on my wife and I. Thankfully it was a juvenile and spooked easy.

Some years ago a mountain lion killed a woman here, and someone I know had one in their backyard. I have relatives who live on a fair amount of acreage in rural bear and mountain lion territory and they cross their property on a regular basis. I'm glad you and your wife came out of that encounter okay. The woman who was killed here, they found evidence in various places that she'd tried to get away and it kept at her like a cat with a mouse. :/

Gun safes are easier to "deal with" than an armed homeowner.

Illegal drugs are even easier to deal with and more profitable. Home invaders go for the low-hanging fruit.

That's good news for home intruders.

And for homeowners. Since it's rare for home invaders to encounter armed home occupants, the home invaders tend not to be armed themselves. Less risk for everyone.

It was on fire when I laid down on it.

Oh I don't much care about anything like that if I am just traveling.

I have multiple weapons in my house: various swords, knives, axes, traditional Karate weapons, crossbows, bows, spears, a taser, pepper gel and a rifle.

Mostly I just like historical weapons, practice archery, and I train in Karate and enjoy learning weapon katas. (I have a 1st place trophy for Odo no Nunchucku kata).

Where appropriate, I carry a knife (for utility purposes as well) and pepper gel.
(Jk)You listed a lot of stuff there but forgot your cats. Shame on you! They fearsome beasts plotting world domination as gods and you forgot to list them

A gun i wouldnt own for self defense. I have a taser but it's at a friends house cuz group homes don't allow weapons.

The thing about guns is if you have to use one for self defense you already ****ed. I was taught anytime you pull a gun out to defend yourself there a possibility of killing them. Never aim one unless you prepare for that to be a risk even if you aiming to only maim. Say you do. Now youll spend years of your life and your money defending that decision to draw a weapon. You'll likely end up in prison and even if you don't all that time and money will take a toll. Then youll likely need therapy and have trauma from taking a life.

It's not worth it to me. I'd rather use a nonlethal weapon.. Im kinda hesitant with a taser due to fearing that if I were to have to use one someone i attack may have a heart problem and it could kill them. But there's less chance of killing that way and it's most the time nonlethal
