Avi's Spiritual and Religious Journey - Part 2

Avi1001

Is it anyway related to (Avi's) Spiritual and Religious Journey?

Or just off-topic.

Regard

Paar, you are a piece of work...now you are telling me my posts are off topic in my own thread. :D

And, by the way, the notions of design, which are embedded in the link, are very much related to spiritual growth. In fact, the concept of design indicates a high level of understanding of a topic. It is related to the idea of synthesis. The ability to synthesize new ideas.

You have to learn how to think outside your little, isolated box. Have you studied any Buddhism ? Why not hang out in that sub-forum and make some new friends. You are less popular in the Judaism DIR even than I. :D

Hi my Jewish friend!

The threads are not owned by the poster and by and large should remain on the topic.

My interest in the thread was only for Avi's Spiritual and Religious Journey; hence my comments.

Very good, Paar, you are always welcome to accompany me on my Spiritual and Religious Journey.

Could you share your thoughts on this assertion: Since Islam and Judaism share many common themes, only fools would fight over their differences. Do you agree, disagree ? Why? Also, interfaith dialogue is about understanding the areas of agreement and disagreement and analyzing them deeply. Agree, disagree ? Why? In your own words, please.

The prime teaching of Moses.

4. Hear, O Israel: The Lord is our God; the Lord is one.
5. And you shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart and with all your soul, and with all your means.
6. And these words, which I command you this day, shall be upon your heart.

I have highlighted the verses in magenta above and the same below that constitute the basic teachings of Moses.

4. Hear, O Israel: The Lord is our God; the Lord is one.
5. And you shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart and with all your soul, and with all your means.

The rest of your questions should be either addressed to Torah or to Moses; they should explain them.

Regards

I suggest you re-read my post.

I don't agree with you. The prime teachings of Moses is there and is not at all controversial.

Regards

Who said it's controversial? I'm just asking you to prove to me that these teachings are more valuable than the others.

I'm also asking you why, if you believe that these are the prime teachings, you don't follow them? Do you bind anything to your hand or between your eyes? Your door? Do you do any of that?

And finally, how do you know that this particular part wasn't corrupted, but others were?

I think I already explained that Moses teaching in essence is:

The Lord is our God; the Lord is one.
5. And you shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart and with all your soul, and with all your means.

I do believe G-d and his Oneness and love Him as explained by Moses.

Who asserted it?

Thanks

Why don't reform Jews wear these ? These are symbolic ritualistic practices and it is not logical to follow them. They are outdated and therefore I do not practice them. Although I do like the nicely woven wool yarmukas which cover part of my bald spot.

Any thoughts on this topic?

What are your favorite Jewish holidays?

My favorite is Shabbat, after all I get the day off from work. :D

After that it is Passover because it celebrates Israel's rebellion against their oppressor, Egypt.

I also like Purim because we get to dress up like Mordeci and spin the greiger.

And let's not forget Hanukah, people give me gifts.:D

Everyone agree ?

My favourite Jewish holiday must be passover, not that I've every been inside for one. I'm usually standing outside with the other firstborn males getting killed by the angel of death, but at least I get to see an angel. I bet you've never seen one.

Brickj, I would have thought you were more of a: lice, locust, frogs or flies type of guy. Oh well, to each his own, I guess !!

Not at all. Those people who caved in because of the plagues were just a bunch of softies. Plague -- smague.

Avi1001 my Jewish friend!

I think you were a reform Jew (with a small r); when did you change and why? Please
You don't need to respond if it is personal; it is optional.

Thanks and regards
