The top 25 most dangerous in the USA go by fatality rate, not assault.

However.... Work place violence....

The 6 most Dangerous Occupations

Although workplace violence can happen to anyone, some occupations have higher rates of violence. According to the Office for Victims of Crime (2018)[1], the top 6 most dangerous occupations are:

  1. Law enforcement
  2. Mental health
  3. Transportation
  4. Retail sales
  5. Medical

  1. Law enforcement: About 56% of workplace violence against government employees is committed against those working in law enforcement and security.[2]

And another link just for kicks

Most Dangerous Occupations

The rate of violence per 1,000 workers during the five-year period studied was as follows:

1. Law Enforcement Officers
2. Prison or Jail Corrections Officers
3. Taxi Drivers
4. Private Security Guards
5. Bartenders

There is still the issue of unquantified false claims of assault.

We Never Know

No Slack
See #61 too.
Cops are very likely more prone to falsely claim
being assaulted because they can use that to
arrest & charge people, unlike other professions.

JOBS WHERE YOU’RE MOST LIKELY TO BE MURDERED

  1. Food services, drinking places, and restaurants
  2. Law enforcement workers
  3. Justice, public order, and safety activities (includes courts and correctional institutions)
  4. Retail sales workers
  5. Supervisors, sales workers

Cops get an unsupported tip that a fugitive is staying
at a man's house. They applied for a warrant, but were
denied due to lack of evidence. Cops still go to man's
house, destroy his surveillance camera, & begin kicking
down his door. They tell him he isn't allowed to record
them, but he continues anyway. He revokes persmission
to search his house, but the cops refuse to leave.
Afterwards, he asked for body camera recordings.
The cops refused to give him any.

This video provides interesting thorough legal analysis.

Where have cops actually been defunded?
If you are asking about a police force being completely defunded, I am not sure that happened, maybe a couple of cities replaced then current Police Forces with a Pubic Safety Department. But many cities did reduce their Police budgets, Portland , OR being one. I will post a PBS link. It has now been restored because crime became much worse. I think 13 other cities have done the same.

I hope you do not think I am arguing against you, I support police reform. I just think de-funding will not and did not work, in fact made police tactics worse. After de-funding, crime increased and the Police Force were restored; in order to replace the lost officers, wages increased considerably to replace the lost officers. They are now emboldened to use even harsher tactics, because of the increase in crime after being de-funded, it is if proof in their eyes that strong and forceful policing is needed. This has just made everything worse.

"Defund the police!" was just a slogan...like "Lock her up!" & "Hope & change".
We should have fewer cops, but they should be of far better quality.
Funding would be necessary for that.

When a cop realizes he is not seen as a "Hero".:tearsofjoy: Best part is when he says "You're not gonna hurt my feelings..." only to cry whine into his radio with his feeling clearly hurt.

It's interesting that he was less than
honest about his interaction with her.
This suggests that he's dumb & quick
to anger.

This black rookie cop retaliates for white driver
giving him the finger. It's common for cops to
claim giving the finger is a request for assistance.
But judges & prosecutors often go along with
cops to punish civilians who just don't know
their place.
The "justice" system often won't allow the
defendant access to evidence the cops &
prosecutor have. And judges often let
cops get away with misbehavior.

Just more evidence I've worked more dangerous jobs than the cops and nobody rolls out the red carpet for me, and the public at large doesn't acknowledge it and has never thanked me for it.

I too worked in food service. Lucky I survived, eh.

As I read some of his posts, what matters isn't
the death rate of professions. It's the narrow
issue of whether anyone attempts to kill/injure
the worker.
This smacks of attempting to make police work
appear more dangerous relative to other jobs
than it really is. As I see it danger is danger,
from whatever the source, be it deadly machines,
drowning, falling, infection, etc.
BTW, one of the biggest dangers to cops is their
own culture. Recently it was their refusal to take
precautions against Covid, ie, the biggest cop
killer during the epidemic.
