Counterfeit Twenties

how many fires are started by protesters?
That's not relevant. You justified police killings by how dangerous the job of a police officer is.

Being a firefighter is at least as dangerous, if not moreso. Why don't they kill as many people?

how many horses have died with this thread?

So what's your view of cops? You think they're heroes or something? Like Dudley Do-Right of the Canadian Mounties?

Canadian cops are different.

These are American cops.

You just argued that every arrest carries the risk of a person dying.

Would you prefer fewer arrests, or fewer people dead?
The proper number of arrests and fewer deaths which are already at some teensy teensy teensy percentage of arrests. And normal polite co-operation with the police would reduce even that almost completely.

I say.....it was the crowd that killed Floyd

he would have been in the car a lot quicker
if the cops didn't have to be wary of their surroundings

really.....

don't point your fingers at cops and yell at them

it's very distracting

and you could end up on your face for interfering
It was the guy with his knee on his neck and back that killed him. That continued to keep his knee on the man's neck and back even after he had passed out.

Nobody else.

Blaming the crowd? Really? The crowd is the only reason we know what happened to this man in the first place.

There are hundreds, thousands, millions of people protesting all across the country (and the world) that would disagree with that. Hmm, it's almost like that has something to do with their protesting ....

So you disagree with 'And normal polite co-operation with the police would reduce even that almost completely'.

For example: I think if George Floyd would have co-operated and been polite as opposed to struggling and resisting the unfortunate events would not have unfolded as they did.

Your mileage may vary, but in my opinion, not being sufficiently polite or cooperative is not a good enough reason to kill people.

Do you think that by killing George Floyd, the the police officer acted correctly?

This is where your train of logic flies off the track.

Why can’t I say both.

1. Polite co-operative behavior towards police would eliminate almost all of these situations.

2. The police were too aggressive in the George Floyd case.

Those two positions do not contradict each other.

I keep failing to build a chain of logic where both #1 and #2 can hold true in the same situation.

If #1 holds true, then that implies that acting polite and cooperative will prevent police from becoming aggressive, but it also implies that acting impolitely and non-cooperatively logically results in police aggression. If the latter is true, then that means being "aggressive" is in fact the logical and appropriate reaction of a police officer towards a perp who acts impolitely or doesn't cooperate.

#2 however implies that the police officers' aggressive behavior was inappropriate to the situation at hand, which refutes the implication that such a behavior would be the logical and appropriate reaction to "impolite" perps.

most energetic thread I ever posted....

I wonder if this same crowd is capable of finding articles of good cops AS good cops

You bet I can! And if you start a thread about that I certainly will. But that was not the topic of this thread.

You failed to show any inconsistencies in my two points.

Police need to exert the appropriate amount of aggressIon with non-co-operative resisting suspects and they overacted in the Floyd case.

And polite co-operative behavior towards police would almost totally eliminate cases like this.

Where is my chain of logic not consistent?

The third paragraph.

“polite co-operative behavior towards police would almost totally eliminate cases like this.”
