Supports inequality

This sort of thinking died out in the 1950s in Western countries.

Because obviously women aren't able to take care of themselves, right?

Women are not dogs, they are not meant to be "obedient" to their husbands.

So this is the rationale behind the Afghani law that states a husband can withhold food from his wife if she does not give him sex?

I got halfway down the page and I couldn't read this disgusting justification any longer. For inequality and for women to be "obedient" to their husbands as if they are animals to be treated as such.

oh for gods sake maximus.

you really need to open up a little, seeing that you took that link in the wrong way, i have doubts that you would be able to understand that islam does not oppress or give less rights to a woman, even if you were hit on the head with it.

My friend Contentius Maximus,

Even after I've told you that this is a trap you still insist? Lol. Someone's a bigot and I'm not talking about myself. Please come back when you've cooled down.

Peace be upon you.

Took that link the wrong way?

"God favours one over the other" "Wives should be obedient to their husbands" and basically the mentality that women have no capability whatsoever for taking care of themselves. What way did you want me to take that?

I said it before, I'll say it again, if need be. I think you're a good person deep down. But you perpetuate this idea that men and women are not equals and that isn't right. That idea manifested itself in the link you sent me.

Did you read the one I sent you by any chance?

that is talking about piety.

god favours the most pious over the less pious.

how hard is that to understand?

How about this:

Islamic laws and culture were dictated at a time when they were relevant. If you read about how the relationship between men and women should be from that context, it isn't difficult to understand. What is wrong is when people take things to extremes or cannot change with time. What we see happening in some countries toward women is horrific but it is not behaviour based on religion. It is behaviour that has sprung forth over time due to people's (men) own selfish/ignorant nature.

I love it lol.

I get called a bigot for:

- Putting forth this crazy notion that men and women are equal
- Reviling oppression of any group of people
- Saying explicitly I do not hate Muslims or Islam
- Saying explicitly I hate the ones who use Islam as justification for their bigotry
- Even telling the person I disagree with that I think he's a good person, but mistakenly embraces a dangerous idea that men and women are not equals.

Please come back when you've learned the definition of bigot. Peace.

oh come on.

show me where have i said that i support women having less rights than men?

if you think that links is giving justification about men being supperior to women, then have another read. you might understand it for a second time.

""Because God has favoured some of them more than others". It is not explicitly stated here who is favoured more than whom but in view of the context it is probable that men are understood in some way to be favoured more than women."

Piety?

And you have not even attempted to address the "women should be obedient to their husbands" or the mentality that women are not capable of fending for themselves.

How about instead of throwing a link at me with these atrocious notions, just answer me this one question unequivocally with a "yes" or a "no". Is it in your view that men and women are equals?

I don't care if it's supported by Islam or not. Is this your view?
