Do people still believe everyone decended from Adam and Eve?

I do sir, the fact is we came from somewhere, at some point of beginning. We Christians teach we descended from Adan and Eve, evolutionists teach a single cell became alive and multiplied.
And one of these ideas is massively supported by evidence and the other has none. Why would any rational thinker believe the one without evidence?

Hi Audie, may I ask for an example, I will be glad to give you our reasons for the belief or practice.
Essentially, the entire thing, with gems of garbage like Genesis.
Of course, there is very little
agreement what to take seriously.

Growing up in Hong Kong, I saw the
religion as as very alien and weird.

I have offered 2 possibilities of where we came from, seems like you accept neither, may I ask where you believe we came from?

A single couple is directly falsified by evidence. Your other option was a single cell "becoming alive" which is just bizarre, a cell would have had to evolve from something simpler.

Genesis means beginning maam, you and I are well aware that we had a beginning.

If there is anything in particular you find in error about the Christian faith, again I will be glad to address it.

Oh so wrong. Fractally wrong.

Not all, in fact not even most Christians believe the Adam and Eve myth. Don't conflate the beliefs of some American Christians with the beliefs of all Christians. Your description of abiogenesis is amazingly wrong and worse yet evolution does not rely on abiogenesis.

The last poll I saw on this confirms what you said above, namely that roughly 70% of Christian theologians here in the States do accept the ToE, for example, as long as it is understood that God was behind it all.

As some have seen me post, including fairly recently, my theory is that the Biblical Creation myths* (1:1 & 2:4) are likely in refutation of the earlier and much more widespread Babylonian creation account that was polytheistic. Thus, it deals with the basic Jewish concepts dealing with a monotheistic belief versus a polytheistic one.

*obviously "myth" does not mean falsehood but deals with a story meant to teach some basic beliefs, such as what a parable does.

Why wouldn't it make sense? I think in the days of Cain and Abel brothers and sisters weren't close friends they were more like distant cousins.
