It is rather hard to sell the martyr line when you are n fact being defended by one of the groups you claim is trying to persecute you.

Despite the superficial similarities between human and ape chromosomes, there are important differences on the molecular level. There are many protein coding genes in humans that are distinctly human and are not found in chimps. Perhaps more significantly are the differences in genes that don't code for proteins. Genes have been described which code for microRNA (miRNA). The miRNA molecule is not translated, but acts directly to control gene expression. A single miRNA can regulate the expression of dozens or even hundreds of genes. A study of miRNAs expressed in the brain found 51 of 447 new miRNAs were distinctly human and 25 were only found in the chimp. The idea that so many genes were altered so that they are expressed in the proper concentration according to cell type and can effectively control the many different genes they regulate is not what we would expect of chance processes.

There is a movement in the U.S. to rid our culture of any hint of Christianity, and it is spearheaded by groups such as the ACLU, atheist alliance international, freedom from religion foundation, American humanist association,Americans united for separation of church and state, council for secular humanism, American atheist, etc. I think atheists have an agenada. You may not be a part of it, but one does exist.

That cutting and pasting opinion pieces is easier than trying to understand what they are actually taking about.

MircoRNA's actually support human/chimp evolutionary relationships.

He (and AIG) for example can't grasp the simple concept that while mutations are random, selection is not... and thus evolution isn't "pure chance" as they love to misrepresent it.

Danmac: your threads tend to wander all over the place, as a result of your confusion between religion and science. Let's back up a bit. Evolution is a scientific theory, and has absolutely nothing to do with whether God exists. Do you grasp this elementary concept? It's no more about God or not-God than any other scientific theory. It provides a natural explanation for a natural phenomenon, like any other scientific theory. Do you understand this basic foundation for our discussion?

We're not arguing about whether God created all living things, we're arguing about how. Did He, as the evidence indicates, do it via evolution, or via Magic Poofing.

So, if you're advocating the Magic Poofing Hypothesis, how could we go about testing it?

Oh, and

DOES THE SCIENTIFIC METHOD WORK?

And I'm against ridding our country of any hint of christianity, but I don't see what that has to do with atheism. I am however all for separation of church and state, but that has nothing to do with ridding the u.s. of christianity.
My statement didn't apply to all non believers, only those that to whom it applies.

One of the big reasons for separation of church and state is to protect religions from each other. To protect showing favoritism to one religion over another, and the best way to do that is keep religion out of government. There is no reason for it to be in government.
We will see how well government does with God removed. So far it's not doing so well

I'm just curious as to how this theistic statement got into the declaration of independence.

If you want to promote religion you should welcome bad government.

Our government has done pretty well up until recent years. Religion is declining in American culture. We have very bad government now and religion has no part in it.

What possible reason could there be for having "god" in government? And who's version of god? What if it's a version of god you don't support, would you still be happy advocating the marriage of church and state? Removing religion from government does not replace it with some other ideology.

First off, the declaration of independence is not the document that you reference when taking about the application of the U.S. government. It's the constitution that you reference. And the first amendment of the constitution clearly states, the prohibition of making any law respecting the establishment of religion. And also the freedom of religion, which also implies the freedom from religion. There should also be no religious test to hold office, which is also in the constitution. So, the u.s. was clearly founded as a secular nation. To state otherwise is just ignorance on anyones behalf.

Religion should have no part in it. What do you benefit from having religion in it? Seriously, you can still have your religious believes and not try and legislate your opinion onto everyone else.

It's not up to me who they defend... they defend those they feel need defending from powers that would deny their civil rights. Sometimes, even people you don't like deserve justice.

That is the American way.
Regardless, like most things you've been arguing about in this thread, you seem willing to misrepresent facts and then justify it later. First the ACLU is "out to get" Christians, then when given evidence to the contrary you flail around trying to show it's "just a ploy".

I'm glad I grew out of the "everyone is out to get me" phase.

By the way, do you have a source for the pedophile thing?

You can still have his blessing without the government endorsing it. Unless your god is so weak that he needs the government to endorse him. And what does the mayflower have to do with the founding of the united states government? The mayflower was centuries before the U.S. became established.
