explain this, does a volcano have a sword???

5:3 And they said, The God of the Hebrews hath met with us: let us go, we pray thee, three days' journey into the desert, and sacrifice unto the LORD our God; lest he fall upon us with pestilence, or with the sword.

In no translation is the word beam used to why are you using it? Shone does not mean beam. The sentence....'I shone a beam of light' makes that pretty evident.

The point is "his face shone" could have been a contemporary equivalent to "his face beamed."

Does fire on its own also shoot out firey darts, produced tumbling ash clouds, produce lightening and hail storms, produce thunder and trembling, create a pillar of smoke by day and a pillar of fire by night, produce red lines of fire down the mountain side, cause the days to become night, give off sulphar and brimstone, turn people to stone.......?
Most of those effects can be achieved through other, independent means. These are most likely just poetry designed to illustrate the power and greatness of this God, through the use of fantastic imagery.

That quote is irrelevant because they were only talking to the Pharoah at the time. They were trying to get what they wanted so what they said was not necessarily truthful. They were trying to scare the Pharoah into allowing them to leave.

Edit.....plus the early part of Exodus is made up. The start, I believe, is the Thera eruption, which gave the Hebrews the idea to leg it with the Egyptians' gold. No struggle beforehand, no begging to leave....all that bit made up to compliment the events.

Please tell me where God is, going by what Exodus says.

Struggling with that one are we Outhouse? Don't worry, I've done it for you....you just need to say where and what you think God's place of residence is....

Exodus 4:27 So he met Moses at the mountain of God and kissed him.
Exodus 13:21 By day the LORD went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night. 22 Neither the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night left its place in front of the people.
Exodus 16:10 10 While Aaron was speaking to the whole Israelite community, they looked toward the desert, and there was the glory of the LORD appearing in the cloud.
Exodus 18:5 Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, together with Moses’ sons and wife, came to him in the wilderness, where he was camped near the mountain of God.
Exodus 19:3 Then Moses went up to God, and the LORD called to him from the mountain
Exodus 19:9 The LORD said to Moses, “I am going to come to you in a dense cloud
Exodus 19:16 On the morning of the third day there was thunder and lightning, with a thick cloud over the mountain, and a very loud trumpet blast. Everyone in the camp trembled.
Exodus 19:17 And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount.
Exodus 19:18 And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.
Exodus 19:19 And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice.
Exodus 19:20 And the LORD came down upon mount Sinai, on the top of the mount: and the LORD called Moses up to the top of the mount; and Moses went up.
Exodus 19:22 Even the priests, who approach the LORD, must consecrate themselves, or the LORD will break out against them.”
Exodus 19:23 Moses said to the LORD, “The people cannot come up Mount Sinai, because you yourself warned us, ‘Put limits around the mountain and set it apart as holy.’”
Exodus 19:24 And the LORD said unto him, Away, get thee down, and thou shalt come up, thou, and Aaron with thee: but let not the priests and the people break through to come up unto the LORD, lest he break forth upon them.
Exodus 20:21 The people remained at a distance, while Moses approached the thick darkness where God was.
Exodus 23:21And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was.
Exodus 24:2And Moses alone shall come near the LORD: but they shall not come nigh; neither shall the people go up with him.
Exodus 24:15And Moses went up into the mount, and a cloud covered the mount.
Exodus 24:16And the glory of the LORD abode upon mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days: and the seventh day he called unto Moses out of the midst of the cloud.
Exodus 24:17And the sight of the glory of the LORD was like devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes of the children of Israel. 18And Moses went into the midst of the cloud, and gat him up into the mount: and Moses was in the mount forty days and forty nights.
Exodus 32:10Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them
Exodus 34:2And be ready in the morning, and come up in the morning unto mount Sinai, and present thyself there to me in the top of the mount.
Exodus 34:32And afterward all the children of Israel came nigh: and he gave them in commandment all that the LORD had spoken with him in mount Sinai.

If the dialogue was historically genuine, this would be so reminiscent of The Wizard of Oz don't you think?

Psalms 97:1-5: "The LORD reigneth; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof. 2 Clouds and darkness are round about him: righteousness and judgment are the habitation of his throne. 3A fire goeth before him, and burneth up his enemies round about. 4 His lightnings enlightened the world: the earth saw, and trembled. 5 The hills melted like wax at the presence of the LORD, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth." (KJV)

Micah 1:4: "And the mountains shall be melted under him, and the valleys shall be cleft, as wax before the fire, as waters that are poured down a steep place." (KJV)

What are these quotes describing?

The power of God.

Well you have just exposed yourself as the anti-thesis of a truth seeker. Very few of those quotes were about anything of power or might. Almost all were about where god was sited.

The truthful answer is that those verses state very clearly that the Hebrew's believed their god resided in the devouring fire at the top of the mountain and that they had to leave Egypt in order to worship this 'mountain of god'.

And we all know the exodus is the only book in the bible thats relevant

And we know that they called Yahweh a warrior deity 380 times but NEVER our volcano god

Go through the thread before trying to be funny.
Sorry, but I'm not trying to be funny. I'm on RF for discussion and debate of religion, not to tell jokes.

I have been following the thread with amusement. I've even commented on how your interpretations seem to work, as have others. You're not listening to any differing views, just continually claiming the same thing over and over.

Ok Odion, I've not asked you this before. Where does god reside? Is he omnipresent or does he reside in a specific place? If the latter, what do you think his home sounds like?
