I like prison and asylum movies. Maybe its the contrast that makes me feel good. Cool Hand Luke, Papillion, Rain Man, Cuckoo's Nest all come to mind.

I can't say for sure what I think the best movie was, but at the same time I certainly would not rate either Titanic or Avatar as being the best.

For me, my favorite movie is actually a toss up.

Painted Lady or Elizabeth 1 (both starring Helen Mirren)

What do you like best about those two, Paul? Just curious.
The depth of the stories, the writing is marvelous, especially in Elizabeth. Add to this Helen Mirren's remarkable ability to disappear into her character and the result is breathtaking. Fans of "eye candy" movies like Avatar may find both to be incredibly boring, however there are filled with such richness and textures to allow for many repeated viewings. Off hand, I'd wager I have seen both at LEAST 10 times.

Thanks! I missed both movies when they were in the theaters, although I had plans to go to Elizabeth. Perhaps I can rent them.

The main thing why I did not like King Kong the remake that is, I forgot to say it earlier, was because of jack black he ruined it just a terrible actor he is.

Well, yeah, that was Jack Black being Jack Black. Though I thought it worked for the character.

They were never theatrical releases. One was a Masterpiece Theatre/PBS production (Painted Lady) and Elizabeth was from HBO. You can buy them on DVD, however, so you may be able to rent them. Note: I just remembered that the first time I saw Painted Lady, I loaned the DVD from our library system. Sweet, eh?

Elizabeth wasn't a theater release? I stand corrected then. I wonder what I have it confused with? At any rate, thanks!

I have liked a lot of movies: Star Wars (A New Hope), My Left Foot, The Wizard of Oz, The Sound of Music, The Indiana Jones movies, ET, The Last Emperor, Ghostbusters, Jesus of Nazareth (do TV movies count?), and too many more to name.

I didn't really like Titanic (1997), although I cried at the sappy ending.
