I wasn't going to respond anymore to this thread, but I got an idea while in another one. I am beginning to see what you are doing, Waymarker (I say now, that this is just my opinion and I don't know if it is really true or not).
Jesus told His Apostles that the world would hate them- and people did, all the Apostles (less one) were martyred- starting with James. Some people take this verse to mean that people will always hate Jesus' followers. I think you are trying to make people hate you so you can feel like a true Christian. I may be way out to lunch with this idea.
You can be a true Christian and not be hated by all non-Christians (including atheists). :)

Look guys (and some ladies), say something with a bit of meat on it because at the moment you're just yapping away without contributing anything except spam to this stunning thread..;)
"..they make a noise like a dog..but you Lord shall laugh at them and hold the heathen in derision" (Psalm 59:6-8 )

Right Lassie?

i'm relatively new to this forum, so what shall I do if I get a 'Friendship request' in my message box from someone wanting to be my pal IF their screen name indicates they're nonchristian?
Don't get me wrong, I'm flattered, but the Bible tells us we're not supposed to hang with nonchristians, so I'm in a dilemma and wondering what I should do?

All men and all women are made in the image and likeness of God. You don't get to love your neighbor as yourself by rejecting them because they dont think like you. Instead of thinking dilemma, think "Privilege"...............:angel2:

Look people, this is supposed to be a debate thread a bit like a tennis match; I serve the ball and then you're supposed to hit it back and we can get a rally going, but at the moment I'm serving up aces all the time and you're totally unable to return them..:)
You remind me of John McEnroe in his tantrummy 'spoilt brat' days, whenever he was having a rough time in a game he'd go red in the face, stamp his foot and start yelling childish insults at everybody in sight, ha ha ha..:)

in order to have a debate, you have to make a point first. and the only thing youve said so far is you dont want anything to with non-christians. and given this, why are you here? there are alot of non-christians here, shouldnt you be running away?

Ok, serious question. You don't want to accept a friend request from a non Christian, so it's safe to say that you have no interest in learning about them or their beliefs.
So what's your reason for being here?

Sorry, just realised I sort of repeated you there.

In fairness I don't think you've responded to the points I raised in post # 155.

Look, waymarker, it is my opinion that religion should have little if anything to do with whether you are friends with someone. If you like what they are about, what kind of person they are, then be friends with them. If you don't, don't be friends with them.

If for example, i, an agnostic, sent you a friend request, and you feel that because i do not believe in god, i am not worthy of being your friend, well, deny my request. That is your right, after all. I just don't think that that decision should be based off of whether i am an agnostic.

Either way, i don't think that someone who randomly sent you a friend request is going to have their feelings hurt if you deny them.

You know, about halfway through, i thought you had potential. Like "sure, he's intolerant, but he's kind of funny." You then proceed to become even more intolerant, say insulting things, basically say that non jesus believers are worthless, and continue to spew angry things.

In my opinion, you MIGHT be a good person. But you seem to be doing your best to make everyone angry. Why? I'm not trying to insult you, cause that would be pointless, you love it when people insult you. It makes a martyr of you. And that is cool, i guess. If you have enough friends who are christian, good. If you don't want nonchristian friends, also good. You just don't need to make a public spectacle of it.

I do have to wonder as well why you would come to a completely multi-religious community if you think that anything a nonchristian says is pointless. Whatever, i try not to judge, but you make it hard, and then criticize people for judging you. Whatever, you will probably have a snarky comment for this, even though i tried to be civil.

Kathryn

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
I just think you're reading way too much into the word "friend" in this context.

Maybe I'm not as tough as you mate, but I don't want to hurt anybody's feelings by heartlessly ignoring their friendship request and am open to suggestions what to do, just like this thread title says on the box..

you're fine with calling us losers and morons though....

Listen, if you don't want to be someone's silly "friend" on RF, which isn't really that serious of a dilemma, no one is going to take it personally. I mean really, Satanists aren't going to add you as a friend because they think it will make them look better, they want to add you because they think you're a good person and want to get to know you better. Besides, it's not like you two will be joined at the hip and attend tea together :D

I'm not a satanist or anything, but the things you're saying about and to others are rather hurtful - and not very Christlike. I'm sorry you are so keen on rejecting the niceness of others, even if it doesn't come to you wrapped ing a "Christian" package. :(

Waymarker, RF's Mission Statement is as follows,
As a community of diverse cultural and religious backgrounds, our aim is to provide a civil environment, informative, respectful and welcoming where people of diverse beliefs can discuss, compare and debate religion while engaging in fellowship with one another.
If you don't agree with this idea of a fellowship among all beliefs, why are you here? To proselytize?

God recognizes only two categories of people- those who reject his son, and those who don't..;)

That's not what He told me. He told me if someone sticks his head up his own butt looking for God, all he's going to find is a lot of crap. ;)

"Of course, they'll almost certainly wind up calling that "God", but it's OK, everybody else will be able to tell what it really is by the smell"---God.

Oops seems i've upset some nonchristians so they're trying to bully the mods into shutting me up..;)
"They prefer teachers who only tell them what they want to hear" (2 Tim 4:2-4)

Calling a Christian a "non-Christian", aside from being rude, arrogant, and---in Christine's case---obsurd, is a ridiculously cheap shot.

Especially coming from a non-Christian like yourself.

To tell the truth I was just passing through in my search to find a good intelligent religious forum..:)
No offence but this place is not my cup of tea; the small number of true Christians here are fine but there's too much background noise from nonchristians and phoney christians so I've got no choice but to obey this instruction and walk out-
"Keep away from profane babblers" (1 Tim 6:20/21)

So to my true Christian friends here I say-
Meet me out beyond the stars
A century from today
Far from the world we used to know
A universe away..:)

A bit phoney, acting like you didn't know about this place I mean, seeing that you have 2 accounts and one is from 3 years ago. Mick in England

Is lying OK according to your interpretation of scripture?

Is there anything genuine about you?
