How should the Christian Church treat homosexuals?

He also said "for what you have done for the least of these, you have done for me". That's another one.

I didn't look for all the quotes. In fact I find it funny that most are from one Chapter. I wonder how many more there are

Several, I expect. Jesus was never big on judgement or condemnation, and he frequently rebuked those who did it. He was big, however, on loving and forgiving one another as God has done for us. He also said that whoever believes will not perish several times. He left the door wide open. It's men who try to close it on people they don't approve of.

And you know Jesus never told anyone to stop being gay...:)

Jesus says I and the father are one, I take that to mean both the trinity and in purpose, Jesus never contradicts the word....

the word says homosexuals will not find the kingdom of heaven...:)

now I take that to mean, practicing homosexuals as when balanced against the word all sin except one is forgivable...

so if the homosexual repents, stops doing what they used to do and accepts Jesus as their Lord and saviour, they can be saved...:)

of course he is loving and forgiving but God is a just judge....:)

how can you say your views are more correct and acceptable....:)

Correct. So we are at an impasse. I think it will come down to a majority vote. In which case I'm certain that most people are not bothered by Same-Sex couples getting married.

However. I wish to stress here that if Christian Churches, or any religious body, do not wish to hold weddings for Same-Sex couples, it should be up to them (and well within their right) to decline if they feel it goes against their doctrine.

I know that there are non-denominational, and non-religious marriage celebrants that would officiate over Same-Sex Marriages. I am also confident that there would be religious bodies that would also accept Same-Sex Marriages within their congregations, sangha, temples etc etc.

back to the point of 'how to treat homosexuals' I think Jesus has one or two things to say.

Matthew 26

36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Matthew 5

7 Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.

14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

From these passages alone it seems obvious what Jesus taught on the matter

yes he taught to pray for the sinners, not to simply let them carry on as they are...:)

unfortunately the pressure will fall on churches to marry gay couples because this is how the gays work, they are not just happy to have their little piece of the world they want every one else to accept them...:)

Just trying to let you know that there's more to it than this "repent you vile sinner" shtick that you're so deeply locked into. I'm hoping eventually you'll catch on.

I am just as likely to teach on God's love and Grace in fact far more likely but this topic revolved on a know gay couple, who do not want to stop being gay, who do not want to be saved not being allowed to go to the church and I have debated from that stand point from first entering te debate to this point....:)

Churches have never had to marry anyone they didn't want to. You keep having a cow when someone calls you homophobic, and then you say stuff like this? Come on! :areyoucra

And so, because we're talking about a gay couple, God's love no longer applies with you? I am convinced that if we were talking about heterosexual adulterers, you wouldn't care. If we were talking about lazy, gluttonous, arrogant swindlers, you wouldn't care.

If that gay couple were beaten to death by right-wing fundamental bigots, would you care then?
