John 3.16 sounds like He loves us dearly enough to send His Son to save us, John 3.17 sounds like he sent His Son to save us and not condemn us. God seems to love us enough for us to deserve a 2nd chance to restore our relationship with Him through Jesus. At least that is what I see, have a nice day sister!
Yes, God loves people so much that He provided a way to reconcile them to Him. He gave His only Son to die on the cross to pay the penalty for their sins. This in no way says we "deserve" heaven. Deserving is linked to earning, and grace is an unearned gift from God.

With some much diversity within Christianity how can anyone choice the right church? There are over 10,000 flavors worldwide. Should a person choice that church that hates faggots? Maybe that church that doesn’t believe in blood transfusions? Or maybe that church that believes in polygamy? Maybe that church that worships on Saturdays. Then there are churches that are armed to the tee waiting for some kind of war, like that wacco from Waco. Then there are the many churches that had burned heretics at the stake. The list goes on and on. I know, maybe I should join the one that drinks snake poison.

You are just arguing semantics..
heaven/paradise .. same thing..
Heaven is for spirit. Earth is for flesh.
Almighty God knows best who will enter paradise
People who say "only such and such" will go must think that they have the same authority as God ;)
Yes. They teach that believing will get the will of God done for them. I think it isn't what the Bible teaches. Matthew 19:24-26

It's easy to choose the right church. Find one which follows the pattern of the church laid out by Jesus and His apostles in the NT.

No one should choose a church who "hates faggots" as you so crudely put it. God hates homosexuality, not homosexuals. He wants us to love all people, but He says those who practice homosexuality won't enter the kingdom of heaven. Choose a church that teaches what God says, not what men think.

There isn't a thing in the NT that forbids blood transfusions. Stay clear of groups that go beyond what is written.

The wackos in Waco were not following Jesus and His apostles. They made up their own rules and called themselves christians. Lots of people call themselves christians. That doesn't make them one.

The churches in the NT assembled on the first day of the week to remember Jesus by sharing communion. Follow the examples we have been given, not what men say you should do. You can't go wrong.

I know of no christian church who burns people at the stake today.

God gave you the choice to accept or reject Him. He sent His Son to die for your sins so that you could spend eternity in heaven with Him. It seems you have already made your choice. You have rejected what God so lovingly has given you. So be it!

As for handling snakes and drinking poison, I don't think it matters because your end result is going to be the same no matter what you do. Jesus said, "Repent or perish." (Luke 13:3, 5)

I would ask you why belief in Jesus would be necessary to get into heaven. I understand what the Bible claims, but it never made sense to me. I'm hoping, there are many paths to God. And even lacking belief in God doesn't seem like a reasonable requirement if one still lives a good, charitable, purposeful and loving life.

I mean, why was Jesus' death even necessary anyways. Couldn't God have figured out a way around it?

Again, I know what the Bible claims. Just asking for a line of reasoning as to why it makes sense.

You say you know what the Bible claims.
Then would you please tell me what the Bible says the reason was for Jesus dying on the cross, why He went so willingly?

right after His pronouncement.....
Do unto others as you would it done unto you.....

the Pharisees began plotting His death

the golden rule was not the work of Jesus.....it was heathen law
the golden rule was carved in stone a thousand years before the Carpenter walked

it was heaven law
everybody knew it
and if held first in regard, the old law of Moses would fade
an eye for and eye is harsh and the Pharisees used it to hold control

the golden rule sets all men free......your action comes first

He died because of a false accusation
the Pharisees pleaded ....He claims to be the son of God! ....heresy!

the Romans didn't care....not their problem
then the Pharisees explained......the King of the Jews IS the son of God

there is no king but Caesar.
and Pilate wrote script......King of the Jews ....and had it nailed to the cross
a note of condemnation under roman law

the Pharisees complained but Pilate replied....
I have written what I have written

which in turn tells the Pharisees ....Judea shall never have a king
the prophecy will never be allowed as long as Rome rules
I wasn't asking why they crucified Him. I'm asking why Jesus died on the cross. He did it willingly. Why? What were His reasons???

as His ministry unfolded....the pending end of it came as one might suspect it would

butting heads with the Pharisees is like a death wish
but He was given to the task
He came to fulfil the law
and that meant eye to eye with the powers that be

in public the Pharisees had problems asking Him anything

and when He quoted the so called Golden Rule......a rule Moses had not written
He did so as if it is preferred over the law of Moses....

the Pharisees did ask.....are you here to set aside the law?(which would also set aside the Pharisee)....
No!.....I have come to fulfil the law (the prophecy)

everyone thought He meant.... a Jewish king on a Jewish throne
He never wanted a crown on His head
He would leave the moment a mention of it came up

Then, came the Passover.
He knew His next great lesson would do Him in
He would enter the city and clear the Temple

no one would look at Him the same way as they did before
no one would ever approach Him....as they did before

His outburst at the Temple drew attention of the Romans
He had caused a riot
He had commited assault and battery
for this He was flogged
and Pilate dealt 39 lashings.......hoping the Man would die at the whipping post
40 was considered a death sentence ( as most would not survive)
hence the saying .....'within a stroke of your life'

the Pharisees wanted Him dead
Pilate wanted the matter settled

He was a marked Man as He left the Temple
He knew He would be
so of course the Upper Room was prepared before His entry of Jerusalem
and when the swords landed on His Last Supper table.....
He got up and walked out to be taken....

He knew He would not walk away

The reason Jesus died on the cross was so that sinners like you and me could have eternal life.

God hates sin, and we ALL sin. When Jesus shed His blood, it was that blood which cleansed our sins. Jesus' death on the cross made us (those wo believe, repent and follow Him) acceptable to God.

Without the shedding of blood, there can be no forgiveness. That's why Jesus died on the cross. God loved us so much He gave His only Son to die on the cross so our sins would be cleansed and we could have eternal life.

I like what you said about Jesus not wanting a crown on His head. The Jews were expecting an earthly king, a warrior, someone who would free them from Rome's oppression. But Jesus had other ideas. You are right! Whenever they were thinking to make Him king, he would leave.

what you speak of here is built on the old practice of blood sacrifice for atonement
as if God drinks blood

the practice goes all the way back to Cain and Abel
(but no one ever questions what their sacrifice was for!)

I do not believe the blood washes away sin
if anything it deepens the debt owed

Do unto others as you would have it done unto you
forgive as you wish to be forgiven

we have never needed anything else....or more

Yes blood sacrifices go all the way back, and the purpose was for atonement (forgiveness).

Jesus was the final sacrifice, "once for all."

That is what the Bible teaches. You can accept or reject the teachings of the Bible. It is your choice.

I will always look to Him as my Inspiration

as for atonement
it is just like it sounds

if I walk with the angelic.....it is by their allowance (grace)
if the Carpenter is willing to call me brother and fellow servant......it is for the nature I have obtained

you know a tree by the fruit it bears

and are we not such....to bear fruit out of season?

"Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6)

"I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am he, you will indeed die in your sins." (John 8:24)

Actually, John 8:24 was probably transmitted, "you are dead in your sins".

Matthew 8:22
It does not change the outcome. Jesus is the way. No one can come to the Father unless they go through Jesus. And if you are dead in your sins, you are separated from God. Unless one believes Jesus is God's Son, and unless one repents, he will perish.

Those are the simple truths taught by Jesus. Accept or reject them.
