I Can Not Respect A God who Allows Children to Suffer

LyricalDutchess

No, but you're not god. You didn't have the power to create a life without suffering for your child, so the comparison isn't valid.

Its extremely valid. Because God calls us His children. And the love of a parent, is the love He has for us. No matter how much He tries to reach us, we still reject Him. But because He loves us, He doesnt force Himself on us. The reckless driving of a drunk isnt God not doing His job. But the one behind the will making a bad decision. We cant blame God for our foolish mistakes.

I consider the explanation for the problem of evil using free will to be an ignorant one, but even if it were true, many innocent people, including children and non-human animals suffer as a result of things not caused by the free will of humans.

Babies were partially crushed and suffocated in collapsed buildings in Haity recently. A God who could allow such a thing is a horrific character IMO, and one to whom I could ever show any respect, no matter the consequences.

How do you justify worshipping a God who allegedly allows this?

This is the foundation for an argument that will ultimately end in the screaming of one single phrase. Can you guess what that phrase is? Well I'll just tell you, it's "IT's GODS WILL!"

That argument of it's Gods will is so ridiculous its not funny. Would you ever be the follower of someone who mass murdered or allowed the mass murder of innocent lives?

No? Then why follow a God which allows it and sometimes encourages it?!

Exactly, only one other inexplicable phenonmenon if you subscribe to the alleged omnimax benevolent god.

Well what do you want God to do? You just said He should prevent all bad from happening. Yet you say we shouldnt me immortal. Death is a bad thing for those of us left behind. So why shouldnt we all just be immortal?

God wishes that none shoudl perish. But sin has entered into the world, its a part of life. It is now our choice whether to follow Him or not.

If God wanted none to perish, then why doesn't he just destroy Sin? It's not out of his boundaries. Why would he create something that would riddle his creations with problems like murder, rape, war ect. If God is so powerful and wise, he should have been smart enough not to put something like Sin into this world.

That's practically the same as me putting acid into the water of my newly made fish tank and letting the fish suffer. Why would anyone or anything allow something like "sin" to exist.

All sin is, is just a reprimand for anything that is considered "unwanted" or "unaccepted" behavior. It sickening.

I went over it in a previous comment. I believe it was because God wanted us to follow Him out of love, not fear. Had He destroyed satan, they would have followed Him out of fear, to keep from suffering the same fate. He gave adam and eve a choice. And they made the wrong one. And we cant blame them because we do the same thing every day. None is perfect but God.

Adam and Eve, The break down.

In order to remain in the garden of eden Adam and eve must not eat from the tree of knowledge, for if they did they would be cast out for ever. Let me explain a huge loop hole in this story. In order for them to know what is right or wrong they must first have knowledge, correct? Yet, this knowledge can only be obtained from eating the fruit of the tree. So without knowing the concepts of right and wrong, Eve eats an apple. They are then cast out. Wait though, Wouldn't that mean they did not know that eating from the tree was wrong? Unless of course God already gave them knowledge (which he didn't). Now let me put this story into laymens terms. I told me 1 year old child not to eat a piece of this cake I made. My friend without me knowing fed my baby a piece of cake, I then got mad and threw my child out onto the street becuase I told him not to eat the cake.

See the meaning in what I'm saying?

I see what you're saying. But it wasnt the child that disobeyed. But rather your friend that gave it to your child. Adam and Eve may not have had full knowledge of everything. But God told them no. And when satan presented it to Eve, she knew enough to tell him, "well God said no." Satan appealed to her senses at that moment. The fruit was pleasing to her eye, and smelled wonderful. He also appealed to her intellect. Telling her she will be as wise as God. She gave into it. She knew enough to right and wrong to have repeated it to the serpent. I dont believe Adam and Eve were incredibly dumb. LOL

Adam and Eve?

A cursory study of biology should tell you that one breeding pair can not produce a species. It is impossible. Do you really believe all of humanity came from one breeding pair?

Well, for one to know what knowledge is, what must first have knowledge. By Satan explaining she will be as wise as God, she must have had an idea for how wise he was in the first place, I.E. She must already poses knowledge.

This story has to many holes for it to be true, please don't deny that fact otherwise you are just beating a dead horse.

Like I said, if you just sit down one night and questions parts of your religion you will soon find out why its a crock of you know what.

No. I believe that Adam and Eve were the first humans and the only ones in the garden. But rather they were outside of the garden before or after Adam and eve were kicked out, i dont know. But I do believe that others were created either by His hands or simply spoke into existence. I do not believe Eve gave birth to the ENTIRE world. LOL Because Cain was exiled. Where in the world did those other cities come from, if Adam and Eve gave birth to everyone?

again, I have. :) I havent been a true christian all my life. Ive been there, done that. But have made my decision. Again, they knew enough to know that they shouldnt do it. The bible says God say, "Behold, the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil." I dont know if it was something more intense than simple knowledge. Either way, Adam and Eve werent dumb to the point where they didnt know what dont meant.

Yes Rape and murder happen regularly but how many could you present to me. How many do you know personally that you would take the time to present them to me. Do you even know where I am. Do you know if I know anyone who was raped or murdered or even been in this circumstance before.
I have family that has been raped, one of my friends was murdered, some of my friend's friend's have been murdered, and I know others who have been raped, and I myself have been in a situation that could have been fatal.
And believe me, the last thing a rape victim needs to hear is that pain is only in the mind. Or try telling someone who just lost a close friend that they don't have it that bad.

It's an intellectual argument. For the sake of debate, I'm granting that the Abrahamic god exists, even though I don't believe it to be so. I'm just pointing out that even if he did exist, I'd not be able to revere him.

OK Mike, I don't usually go here, this is just my opinion but for the sake of intellectual argument, I'm going to give it a whirl.

First off, you are grounded in this life. You believe this little time on earth is all you have. God is keeping his hand out of this time for the sake of fairness with his wager with the Devil.

This is the classic case of good vs. evil. An experiment would be a good example.

The Devil is allowed to control all of the variables while God stays out of it to prove a point to the Devil. This is an old score that started when Satan left Heaven with 1/3 of the arch angels.

The time we each spend here on earth is but one grain of sand on the beach compared to spending eternity with God in Heaven. What is done to us here on earth is of no consequence compared to what we will receive later.

I believe God stays out of things here on earth to give the devil complete control of the variables in this experiment of good vs evil. I believe he is all powerful and already knows the final outcome of this experiment and this is only an exercise to prove once and for all to the devil who is really has the ultimate control at this moment in time.

You see I believe the Devil is a deceiver and is so good at what he does, that he has even deceived himself into believing he can conquer God.

Now everything I have just said above is for the sake of this intellectual argument.

Anyone reading this post should not have construed it as P-tizing OK?

Life is a learning experience. And no matter what dangers and evil roam, i enjoy living. i have made the conscience decision to make my suffering my personal testimony. And no matter how awful it was, i wouldnt change it for anything. Because it has made me the woman i am today.

Not to downplay your bad life experiences.. but I don't think that is the suffering the title is referring to.

No bad experience in my life really questions the existence of god, though, I can't same say the same for the few million child prostitutes.
