That perspective can be double edged.I understand.
Having a perspective where moments like that are temporary hopefully offers the opportunity to appreciate them that much more when they do happen.
I often wonder about the world these days where we put so much emphasis on work, growth, money, enterprise, etc... Force feed this down our kids throat, or at least allow it via tv shows, movies, etc...
Surely there was a time when the love of family trumped everything, even the all might American Dream (LOL sorry I couldn't help but laugh at my own words!)
Why does the love say between a son and father have to change at all, and instead endure forever? Isn't it up to us, what stay prominent in our lives? Don't we have a say in how the world should be? Do you think we might be giving in to what others want when we make a statement that "this" or "that" is just temporary, even if history tells us that? Isn't it us that makes history? If so, than we can write our next history, one where sons and daughters cleave to mothers and fathers until that time they might join to another. Seems to me we let history all to often make our future, instead of doing it the way we want in our heart.
OK, now that was a bit preachy sorry!
