I have a question for all members

InformedIgnorance

Do you 'know' or believe?
The OP was a two part question. I made no statement.

Question 1
"I have been trying to figure out the core purposes of this forum?
It is not to promote faith in God. Yet it is listed as a religious forum”
Question 2
"Is the purpose of the forum to bash people who believe in God?"

If you read the OP you would see I made no stand on any position.
One of the staff who has posted with nasty remarks seems to think the OP is an insult?
I expected you, of all the posters, to have understood the OP?
You then commented however on phrases such as 'in my opinion' etc, this is what I was responding to. Not the entirety of the OP since this has been extensively and IMO quite effectively addressed many times during this thread. I was instead commenting on one of the less addressed aspects of the OP, your inquiry as to the nature of posts and their content, the dissatisfaction you expressed over having to indicate 'i believe' and so forth; noting that it would effectively be dependant on what you were attempting to achieve with regards to your post.

Question 1 is not a question. Putting a question mark at the end of a statement does not make it a question. The only question you have in the entire post is about whether or not the forum is to bash people whom believe in "God" (I'll capitalize as I'm assuming you mean only those following the Abrahamic deity). Which is honestly a ridiculous question as there are numerous rules against bashing and insulting people at all. Which, given that you seem to have have read the rules enough to have an issue with at least one of them, you should know that. Ironically, the rule you seem to have the biggest issue with is the rule that keeps people from bashing people WITH religion, aka: proselytizing. A rule to keep this a place of civil discussion and debate and not a place of sermons and potential hate mongering via constant scripture quoting. Not allowing proselytizing does not make this place suddenly NOT a religious forum, it makes it a welcoming forum for people of ALL religious paths to be able to discourse with each other without fear of "thumping".

I have read all your personal comments. Thank you. I learned many years ago to see the whole world through the writing of a few. One of you is a trained writer. He aside from all of you knows a writer, be he professional, or just a scribbler, shows their soul. It is true, people can not hide when they put words to paper.
When nations fall, it is because their people become little people. Puffed up with little things they claim, “See? Do you see I am above this one, or that one.”
Some have reasoned, “I am smarter than the old…don’t you see, I am young.” For you, I have a smart pill. Put aside your comic books. Read Shakespeare. You will find one play just for you. A young man stops to watch a grave digger. A skull falls out of an adjoining grave. The young man picks it up, holds it high, and says, “Ah…you were like I am, and I shall be like you are. An older one steps forward and proclaims, “Proven? Hahaha. Don’t you know…nothing can be proven?” He forgot to add his own words in that statement.
Two showed real compassion. Some stood on the side, and said nothing, for fear they too would come under attack. These are the ones with feet of clay.
I have learned nothing on this thread I did not already know. Most do not know the near future. Just a few know what is coming down the pike. Don’t worry, the future itself will reveal it to you. Some have asked, “Why did you stand silent?” I learned to be silent form the one whose footsteps I try to walk in.
These words are just my opinion in accord to rule 8, and are not intended to reflect on anybody who has posted on this thread…it may reflect of those who post after reading this., I have no idea? I am old...what do old people know?

Depends on the person. But, like the chant goes, wisdom is the gift of age. I, actually, look forward to the wisdom years.

But, personally, when I'm old, I want to be the funny old man with the Gandalf beard who tells fun stories to children, not the brooding type who has nothing but contempt for everything. IOW, I want to be your average elder from any given Miyazaki film, not Ebeneezer Scrooge.

I will also point out that there are plenty of members of these forums who are themselves getting on in age, pretty much all of them very wise in their own rights, but not a single one of them has felt the need to point out that they're older than me, and thus are automatically wiser. They are mature enough to let their arguments speak for themselves, and not feel the need to prattle on about the fact that they remember a time before the Beatles.

BTW, I don't read comics that much, unless they've actually got something really good to say or explore (see Watchman or V For Vendetta.) And, though you may not have been referring to me, I actually am a storyteller.

1) You've already been shown the mission statement of the forum. What more do you want? Also, what about the name "religious forums" implies that it's a place to preach?

2) Quite obviously the answer is no. If it were then we'd have a much lower number of theists on the board. Also there would be no theists on the staff but the truth is that there are quite a few

It is mind boggling to me that you have spent 30,000 hours on a forum?
If you spent 24 hours a day, seven days a week on the forum, that is 3.4
years ! I’m sure you have to take time to sleep, eat and shower…say you only spend daylight hours on this forum. That’s every day, seven days a week for six years! What are you thinking? Have your family, or friends not talked to you about this?

Where do you get 30,000 hours from 30,000 posts more like.

What makes you think that anyone spends "24 hours a day" on a forum? And more importantly, do you believe it's even possible to stay alive while doing that for years on end?

Where do you get 30,000 hours from 30,000 posts more like.

Young people must be horribly slow typists. :p

Do you 'know' or believe?
Or its ~15.7 posts a day for six years; each of which may have only taken a few seconds each to do.

Compared to your own ~5.8 (so a little less than three times as many posts as you)

Why would you make the assumption that each takes an hour? Have you spent 150hours on your posts in the last five or so weeks?

It is still an hour a day for six years. Why would anybody spend 2,000 hours on a forum?
Would it be that a person who does that has a big hole in their need field that needs to be filled?

I don't wast my time, never have....bye.
