I’m 77. I’ve seen a million young people like you. They get into College, and over night they think their smarter than every body else. When they get out of school, life turns them every way but up. They find their little piece of paper should be hanging in the men’s room. They stand behind ten million others with the same piece of paper. The big boys wont hire them because they have no experience, and the dead end jobs don’t want them because they are over qualified. Most go into the service. With their paper they become a Junior officer. Only problem with that, is when they get into a combat situation, their own men shoot them in the butt, so he don’t get them killed. Well what can I say? Welcome to the real world, in your future.

I've seen old people who think they're smarter than everybody else, too. Actually, I think it has happened recently, and it's as condescending and presumptuous as when anyone else does it. ;)

That's a good theory, but does it hold true?
Here is an example of what I am asking:
If I know a Bible statment is true, and can be proven as true, My having to say, "In my opinion," in order to not be outside rule 8, puts what I can prove a fact, as nothing more than an opinion...thus it is no longer a fact.

That would be like saying, "If you jump out of an airplane at 10,000 feet without a chute, in my opinion, you will die. That is like saying you may not die.
Why would a statment have to be labeled an opinion, if it can be proven as true?

We accept that Religious truth is personal
We accept others believe things we do not
We accept we may be wrong
Religious fact is not accepted as proven truth
We are not always right.
No one can prove Scripture is true.
They can believe it but not prove it.

All the above are beliefs and are implied by the rules of RF
We are protected and can not be contradicted in a DIR

People HAVE fallen out of an aeroplane at great heights and survived.

I am 78 and a heretic.......

I am for debate on any subject. I am against anybody being told in a debate, they must put what they may have spent years proving, that it is just an opinion…that word opinion means, well, it might be true, or it might not. I believe, and this in not an opinion, adults if they do not believe something, will as adults reply, “Prove it.” And the poster
will either prove what they have said, or look like a darn fool.
I had said there are 10,000 Prophesies in the Bible,. One member replied as an adult…”Show me?” I have tha whole list of 10,000, in order of the Books they are found in the Bible. A work like this takes years to compile, and check out…it is not an opinion. I tried to post them by section, but the forum kept saying the letter count had to be a small number. So, I offered to send the member the complete list via email…I have yet to hear his reply.
That list is not an opinion, Does anybody understand what I am saying?

I think I understand what you are saying. You seem to believe that things can actually be 'proven'. But it is my earnest opinion that you do not really understand what the word 'prove' means.

Since that seems to be the central point of your complaint -- your're unhappy that your 'proven stuff' must be labelled as 'opinon' -- I'll be happy to argue with you as to the nonexistence of 'proven facts.'

There is no such thing as a fact. Nothing can be proven in any sense beyond personal opinion.

Aren't you just a bag of sunshine?

Firstly, yes, there are some people like that. Some think just by reading some philosophy or psychology, then they are the smartest person since Einstein. Trust me, do you know how annoying it is to have someone in Psych 101 try to analyze you? And yes, sometimes graduates can't find jobs (qualified or not) and sometimes will end up in a minimum wage job while trying to live their lives and paying off $60,000 of debt.

However, we need to realize that A.) not all students are like this. Hell, I go to a state university and there are more Christians than any other (non-)Belief. I didn't stop believing in the Abrahamic God because I read Nietzsche; I stopped believing because I don't believe in that kind of God. B.) People need to realize that most of us will not get a job in the field which we study. Unless it is SUPER specific. I'm going for a Psychology undergrad and soon a Masters in Religion, because I'm planning on being a Chaplain. However, I may not end up in that job and may work as a secretary in an insurance office due to insinuating circumstances. However, it's not how much money you will earn, but the knowledge and experience you gain. I've learned so much about myself and the world by attending college.

Idealistic? Perhaps. Bitter? No.

Prove can mean anything from 'possibly' to '90% sure', to 'quite likely' to 99% sure.

In fact, that's all a modern usage of "proof."

IN THE ORIGINAL USAGE, "prove" means "test!"

So that for example, the Biblical verse stating "Prove the spirits" in fact means "TEST the spirits."

An important fact, I suggest, to bear in mind.

Peace, :)

Thank you for all your comments. You have answered my question in the OP.
It’s not a religious forum. It’s just a bunch of kids who love to flame.
You have no idea what is coming down the pike.

If you think people here flame then you really need to explore the internet some more.

Well, in my opinion;
In that case, it matters not what either side says, nothing is learned. Nothing is gained.
So of what value is the forum?

I, for one, am here to see peoples opinions from all walks of life. There is a lot of wisdom hidden in religious rhetoric and teachings, and if anything said on this site helps even one person then, quite frankly, it was worth every second spent on it.

Suspend your judgement and everyone has something to teach you.

Interesting read. Usually they just come in and proselytize and get banned. Not often do you see someone actually come in and whine about not being able to proselytize as if the whole definition of a religious forum is "place to whack other people with your holy book".

I don't believe you have either.

I just did a google search on the question, "what do extras in the background in movies say?"
https://www.google.com/search?q=wha...s=chrome.0.57.9636j0&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

And a lot of things came up. Most of the links said that they have actual conversations, one or two said that they just repeat things over and over, but none of them said anything about extras chanting "yadayadayada".

Aside from that, and no offense, but I would think if you really were a professional script writer, your grammar would at least be average and you would have learned how to use spell check by now.

I just want to interject, as one who has worked in pictures, that "yada yada yada" would look completely ridiculous on film.

I always heard watermelon was the go-to. But wouldn't it be sweet if they all just had to memorize some famous speech!

I vote for:
In rode the Lord of the Nazgûl. A great black shape against the fires beyond he loomed up, grown to a vast menace of despair. In rode the Lord of the Nazgûl, under the archway that no enemy ever yet had passed, and all fled before his face.

All save one. There waiting, silent and still in the space before the Gate, sat Gandalf upon Shadowfax: Shadowfax who alone among the free horses of the earth endured the terror, unmoving, steadfast as a graven image in Rath Dínen.

"You cannot enter here," said Gandalf, and the huge shadow halted. "Go back to the abyss prepared for you! Go back! Fall into the nothingness that awaits you and your Master. Go!"
The Black Rider flung back his hood, and behold! he had a kingly crown; and yet upon no head visible was it set. The red fires shone between it and the mantled shoulders vast and dark. From a mouth unseen there came a deadly laughter.

"Old fool!" he said. "Old fool! This is my hour. Do you not know Death when you see it? Die now and curse in vain!" And with that he lifted high his sword and flames ran down the blade.
The Lord of the Rings
Always one of my favs, but I suppose you could also do the Gettysburg address in a pinch.

Yes, watermelon was the go to in my early stage days. Background actors in film tend to get a little more creative. You basically want to avoid repetitive mouth movements.

I don't believe the forum has a true direction. The name of the forum is like a flytrap. Those of you who do not believe in God, how would you address if you joined a forum who's name was,"A forum for those free from the myth of God." And after you joined, learned you are one of just a few, who are not 100% for God? Plus, if you said anything against religion, God, the Bible, etc...you also had to make it clear, what you post is not true, or false, it's only an opinion?

Contrary to what you believe, the name of the forum is what draws all sorts of believers and nonbelievers.

What is "true direction"? Your example is crass at most, as it does not pertain in any sense to the strictness of what the forum is about, which is learn about the philosophical matters pertaining to life and its questions.

You have some type of issue you need to figure out, not all people who believe in God believe in the same God, then again not all people who study religion or philosophy adhere to its principles.

As for the rest of your posts concluding up to this point, I'd say you sound like a fly thats trapped in a sticky mess. GET OVER IT!
