Something like that just shouldn't be possible, whether it is Trump or Biden doesn't matter, it is just straight-up people exploiting their power.

No doubt it's a long-standing American tradition from small little towns to huge urban metroplexis.

I'm sure you've heard of the slogan in many forms but all essentially saying the same thing.

"We take care of our own boys".

Yeah but it is the Constitution so it would nearly impossible to get rid of the power. And it only applies to federal crimes, not state ones.

I agree its gives Trump the green light.

Posters are saying 'I dont blame him because Trump ... Or 'he should have because Trump ...
Etc. etc.

Now when/if Trump pardons J6 people he can say I'm doing it because Biden ...

The blame game needs to stop.
IMO Biden was always going to do it regardless. His doing so had nothing to do with Trump.

People can lay blame where they want, bottom line, Biden is going to do what Biden wants same as Trump is going to do what Trump wants.

But it is pretty absurd.

Hunter Biden was awaiting sentencing later this month in two federal cases.

In June, he became the first child of a sitting US president to be criminally convicted - in a case relating to his gun ownership. He was found guilty by a jury in Delaware of three charges for lying about his drug use on a form when buying a handgun.

He was also awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty in September in a federal tax case that centred on whether he paid enough tax from 2016-19. The nine charges included failure to file and pay his taxes, tax evasion and filing a false return.

He faced up to 25 years in prison in the gun case and 17 years in the tax case, though he was likely to get much shorter tariffs and to serve the two sentences concurrently, experts told the New York Times.

Fair enough that he won't get that many years, but to just be able to get away with it without any consequences is absurd at best. Not because I think he is a bad person, but simply that it is such an obvious misuse of power.

And Biden isn't alone in this, I think all presidents have used this to get friends/ business partners etc. out of problems.

To me, it just doesn't make any sense when you have people getting sentences for much less.

I'm of two minds on this one. On the one hand, I'm against corruption and nepotism, on the other, I think you can't win when you play by the rules while the other side cheats.
Trump has made nepotism socially acceptable in the US, bigly. He (and the rest of MAGA) shouldn't complain.
"Rules for thee but not for me" is the mantra of the right.

Whatever it applies to I don't really care.

What the hell happened to this part:

“that these dead shall not have died in vain– that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth”

It should be:

“that these dead shall not have died in vain– that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom and that government of the Rich, by the rich, for the rich, shall not perish from the earth”

That seems to be how things are done everywhere, not only in the US.
