If God exists why is he hiding?

If God exists why is he hiding?

Perhaps gOd is You, and Me

Oh, we hide from God all the time. Just read the various posts written by various atheists who don't dare to admit that there might be a God. Just look around at all the people who self-medicate and dissipate violently. Just look at all of those who wrap themselves up in a false (but very visible) piousity. Just look at the greed, and the avarice, and the envy, and the hate, and the fear. All of these are human attempts to hide from God.

Those same things seem determined to swallow up our own existence in favor of perpetuating their own falsity.

Those things are not hiding from god, they would disobeying. And its easy to disobey something that is not present, because then you aren't really disobeying anything. If for example I became a father, and I wrote down all the rules for my child on a post it note, and then left forever, would anybody consider the child disobedient because he didn't follow them all perfectly, or even at all? Because that is what your god basically does.

And once again, if your god exists, by definition it is impossible to hide from, as he can see and know everything. On the other side, god has every capability to hide from us or be present, and he chooses the former. The best reason for which I can think of is that he just doesn't exist. Too much natural random evil, especially children, for him to sit and watch TV drunk or whatever he does instead of caring about us at all.

You just want to blame people in lieu of god's absence, instead of blaming god for being absent. If we are really not doing what he wants us to, and he has the capability of showing up, then maybe he should do something about it. In the mean time, I won't share your pessimistic view of humanity, a humanity that I see as mostly good and beautiful.

I don't believe that god is "hiding" per se. I believe that we are simply too coarse in our awareness to perceive God directly. I don't know what others are into, but rather than waiting around for God to "prove his existence" or "manifest himself" to me, I believe that I should concentrate my attention and raise my consciousness to refined enough wavelengths were I can begin to perceive him.

So.... God created us and then removed himself so far from our basic senses that none of us are able to fully see him? Wait... How is that not hiding again? Seriously, if you don't even know what it is your looking for (what is God?) how are you going to refine some unknowable wave length to see him? This just makes no sense.

He's not hiding.
He's waiting for that shell you walk around in to fail.

Your linear existence will produce a unique individual.
He's just waiting to see what stands up from the dust.

As for 'punishing' nonbelievers.....nay.

Nonbelievers simply fail.
They bring it onto themselves.

So I guess you have seen God by the way your talking. Please describe him.

Just like the Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, Lochness Monster, Santa Clause, Unicorns, Leprechauns, Gremlins...
There's something wrong with imagination now?
Bet you hated watching Bugs Bunny and Jonny Quest, too, because they were imaginary. And you also never played "Cowboys and Indians."

How are greed, avarice and envy "disobeying?" Or dissipation for that matter? Show me the laws.
Because that is what your god basically does.
Ha! You're hiding because you insist on believing that "God is gone forever." How do you know?
And once again, if your god exists, by definition it is impossible to hide from, as he can see and know everything.
We can turn from God so we don't have to see God. God's not going to force us to look.
On the other side, god has every capability to hide from us or be present, and he chooses the former.
Oh? How? How does God hide? I look around and see God everywhere. Why don't you?
he best reason for which I can think of is that he just doesn't exist.
some think too much and feel too little...
You just want to blame people in lieu of god's absence, instead of blaming god for being absent.
And this, boys and girls, is logic:
You just want to blame people in lieu of god's absence, instead of blaming god for being absent.
And yet:
he just doesn't exist.
How can God be absent, if God doesn't exist??? How can one "blame" something that you claim is "non-existent?"
If we are really not doing what he wants us to, and he has the capability of showing up, then maybe he should do something about it.
**cough** Jesus **cough**

And yet another great example of logic:
a humanity that I see as mostly good and beautiful.

I'll wait until you take your foot out of your mouth.

Read Genesis. It was we who removed ourselves so far from God.

None of those try and represent the imagination as real. God is represented as real, when it is clearly imagination.

Go to church and no one can even find him there. Look under every pew, no God. Search under the alter, no God. Crawl up into the ceiling, no God. Climb to the top of the steeple, no God. Get inside the bell tower again no God. Just at least pray for a sign, again no God. In this so called house of God there is no visible sign. If that is not hiding then what is?

I don't understand...
I attend church every Sunday, and God's always there...

The problem with this is that people interpret "imagined" as "imagined real" and conveniently overlook that it's "really imagined."

The whole interpreted world is really imagined. Why is it a problem that bits of it are?

"God" is no less real than "love."
