The thing is though, we know how it works
It trains itself on data by absorbing vast quantities of data
I'd say that that process does not involve any creativity
So cannot be called art, based on your own definition

If your definition of art is "creative expression" then what exactly does the word "creative" mean to you?

How much AI art have you seen?
There is a lot on Facebook right now, at least on my feed. All variations on a limited number of themes

In a way, yes, but it is true. There is no clear distinction between what is art and what is not.
Most definitions get fuzzy around the edges.

Is AI artificial? Is it capable of artifice?
If the answer to the first question is yes, then AI itself may be art.

When I produce a novel and intentional representation, some may be willing to deem it art while others will simply (but graciously) note that art is in the eye of the beholder. Most, however, will acknowledge this fictive representation as an instance of creative expression.
Comparing this representation with some AI offering, two questions come to mind:
- Is the AI offering intentional?
- Given that this output can be dubbed (dismissed as) algorithmic, can we say with confidence that my output is not?
