She'd impress me more hunting a Lion with a tranquilizer gun. More skill needed too.

I never thought about it that way.....Yeah... If she just wanted bragging rights and her picture taken with the thing...then yeah....I agree.

If she was looking for a trophy then she should take him on with her bear hands...then we could see who's king of the jungle...

How is killing a lion any worst than emprisoning thousands of cows for all their lives in dark spaces until you kill them so other people can have fleeting moments of gastronomical pleasure?

I for one don't think its worse . I get angry at the way our animals for food are raised and slaughtered. Its disgusting. (and how are hens are raised for eggs).

I would further say the meat factory thing is way worst.

Like waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay worst. If she dedicated her life on hinting lions one by one and torturing each before killing them, she would still cause immessurable amounts less suffering than someone does by putting big bucks on meat factories (I mean someone starting it, not just buying it for food)

I am not innocent on supporting torture either. I know the egss I eat and the milk I drink likely comes from animals with terrible life conditions, but that is not my point.

My point is that that meat is not for food anymore than human meat would be for food.

Both are nourishing and both are unnecessary.

Meat is taken because of a mixture of pleasure and laziness, not actual need or survival.

I agree Me Myself . Its revolting .

I still don't like someone smiling with their big teethy white smile murdering a lion for "fun".

The only thing I found ? Is b-12 is a little hard to get with out some meat. And some of the saturated fats we need.

After all infants are reliant on mothers milk . Which is "animal' based nutrition .

I don't understand those who enjoy hunting for sport. But, Melissa, regardless as to opinions of her, didn't do anything illegal. Right, wrong, disturbing - whatever the opinion - she had the right to hunt the lion.

So, I find the petition to keep her out of South Africa to be an asinine gesture, personally.

If she acted lawfully and it upsets the South African people, their problem is, first and foremost, with their own government.

I find points in this article to be interesting:

Melissa Bachman: Huntress Unleashes Misogynistic Maelstrom

Personally, I think that everyone is entitled to an opinion and I have no disrespect for those who disagree with what she has done.

But, I don't particularly find Melissa to be deserving of the severity of a lot of the comments directed towards her. It's okay if people don't like her and don't like what she's done. But, she didn't do anything illegal and isn't the only one who legally hunts in the conservatory.

I also found this to be quite interesting from the article:

The South African conservancy where she shot the lion have said funds from hunting go to combat poaching and to mend fences on the reserve. They explained all meat was distributed among the local community.

I don't find much that's admirable in shooting an animal you aren't going to eat with a high powered rifle. The animal doesn't stand much chance. Now, if you lust for blood, and are a real sportsman, why not go after it with a homemade spear, like our ancestors did?

Good points. The article summed it up succinctly.

I dont find it admirable, but it isnt any graver than eating meat for pleasure as almost all do anyways.

I really dont understand the mental gymnastics by which she is a monster or something but if she had ate the lion it wouldnt been so bad.

She didn't eat the lion, but, the meat was shared throughout the community.

I would become her slave if she killed the lion with her bare hands. But, she used a rifle. That's cheating. Heck, a spear would have been better and understandable.

She was hunting for sport. It's not inappropriate or outlandish to use a gun for sport hunting.
