Is America a Police state?

I'm glad Oak Park has enough budget surplus to devote time and money to critical issues like this!
Prosecuting gardeners is good for the economy.....lawyers will be paid, trees will be turned into paper, jails will buy food & utilities.....

Kathryn

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
Well, Revoltingest, at least we don't live in Canada - and this little perk means that on occasion, we will be treated to Dire Straits singing "Money For Nothing!" Imagine life without that song? It would be a little dimmer.

Don't they mention bacon somewhere in that song? I think if you play it backwards, the word "******" in that song becomes "bacon." But I could be mistaken. I read that on the InfoWars site and those dudes are ape **** crazy.

I'm also glad I don't have kids in Texas public schools.....
In Texas schools, response to misbehavior is questioned - The Washington Post

Woe unto a society where cops make money by treating ordinary behavior as crime.
Give another kid noogies & get a $500 ticket? Many instances of noogie giving will be found.

In our public schools, the authorities have decided that defending yourself is a crime & grounds for expulsion.
If attacked, the student has a duty to endure it & report it. (Tis a very progressive community we have.)

How is that progressive? It's extremely hard to make the case that it's progressive, especially considering we're talking about Texas. This is the school system that has teaches history in a very conservative light.

And isn't harsher discipline a conservative principle?

The mirthful irony is in my progressive community's (not TX) treatment of victims.
