Everyone makes mistakes..
But to say that this is how progressives as a whole would do things is silly. Like saying that all Libertarians would destroy public schools and peddle Ayn Rand.
wa:do
Let me explain...the progressives who ban self defense are in my community (not Texas),
& pointing out that we're "progressive" was for irony, since it doesn't seem very progressive.
It's just us locals being loopy....well, other locals being loopy.

Kathryn

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
Public schools across the United States - most of which would claim to be "progressive" - regularly expel kids for bringing tylenol to school as well.

Yeah, I expect such bad policy from backward knuckle walking conservative regions (eg, Texas)...but we progressives should be above such cruel stupidity.

As one of those mouth breathing backward bumpkins, how do you live with yourself, woman?
Do you aspire to rise to our ranks, or are satisfied with your low lot in life?

I guess I'm satisfied with my good job with benefits, and my husband's GREAT oilfield job, and our new home, and our vehicles - not to mention our five healthy and intelligent kids who have come up thru the Texas public school system and who are now either in college or well on their way in their (so far) successful careers. In other words - all gainfully employed and making good progress up the career ladder and providing very well for themselves and their families - armed with their raggedy little Texas diplomas.

Yep, us silly ol' Texans - I have no idea why we're so satisfied with so little...

Maybe mouth breathing ain't so bad.
I'll try it for a while & see if our economy improves.
It's cheaper & less risky than quantitative easement.

This article on the Patriot Act includes a chart which shows that the use of delayed notice search warrants, a power granted under the Patriot Act, are primarily used for drug warrants rather than terrorism. I'm trying to find where the data for this chart arrives but it strongly implies that resources are used for domestic law enforcement involving drugs rather than the actual rationale behind the Patriot Act.

Yep, a person can be charged under "Patriot Act" for having some weed.

Patriot Act is stronger then the RICO act.
