Is anti-theism (satanism) better than atheism?

LaVeyan Satanists view them as symbolic, rather than literal.
Luciferianists and Setians believe in Satan literally (or Set), but there is some variation in what they see his role as. Setians commonly believe Set is a monotheistic God, I think, whereas Luciferianists fall more towards traditional Christian beliefs, but see Satan as a positive force.
It varies with luciferians (that's the proper term I've never seen anyone use luciferianist). Some dont worship the christian idea of Lucifer but Venus, others the Roman god Lucifer(aka Phorophorus). Not all follow christian ideas but satan is positive. Theistic Satanists might but again some just believe in satan and not in the christian God. We a very diverse group Luciferians and satanists are.

Edited cuz can't spell

The diversity always struck me as being almost inevitable when you build a belief system around concepts of independence, challenging norms, self-actualisation, etc.

I find that rather difficult to fathom, since Satan is supposed to be an angel, cast out of heaven. Angelic beings are spiritual beings believed to act as an attendants, agents, or messengers of God. How one can believe in "messengers of God" without believing in God is quite beyond me.
I figure that most Satanists don't define the concepts in ways that much resemble Christianity's.

I edited it cuz I spelt Luciferians wrong. But yes its very diverse and such. Im a Pagan Luciferian, polytheistic pagan satanist or pagan with demonolatrist and left handed views depending on what terms you wish to use. Im a syncretic but it's possible cuz all the paths I follow are indivualistic you make your own path.

Here's an example of a satanist group that's atheistic. The Satanic Temple. FAQ(Link embedded)

Under the question Do you worship satan is the following:
  • No, nor do we believe in the existence of Satan or the supernatural. The Satanic Temple believes that religion can, and should, be divorced from superstition. As such, we do not promote a belief in a personal Satan. To embrace the name Satan is to embrace rational inquiry removed from supernaturalism and archaic tradition-based superstitions. Satanists should actively work to hone critical thinking and exercise reasonable agnosticism in all things. Our beliefs must be malleable to the best current scientific understandings of the material world — never the reverse

Under who is Satan to you
  • Satan is a symbol of the Eternal Rebel in opposition to arbitrary authority, forever defending personal sovereignty even in the face of insurmountable odds. Satan is an icon for the unbowed will of the unsilenced inquirer – the heretic who questions sacred laws and rejects all tyrannical impositions. Our metaphoric representation is the literary Satan best exemplified by Milton and the Romantic Satanists from Blake to Shelley to Anatole France

I feel like this illustration (from “Berserk”) conveys my version of “Satanism”… which has nothing to do with most modern movements:

A counter-culture symbol.
The whole thing seems a little reactionary to me, to be honest, so I'm not sure I'm the best person to explain. But LeVeyan Satanism (eg. Church of Satan, First Satanic Church) is non-theistic. There are theistic Satanists too, with examples being Luciferianists (who see Satan as either a positive force, or the true God), O9A (neo-nazi links), or Setianism (who often prefer not to be identified as Satanists at all, but are LHP).
Sounds to me like you're describing people that want to be contrary to the status quo just to be contrary to the status quo. Claiming "satan" is just their equivalent to waving a Nazi flag in a synagogue. Like I said, we're not talking about the brightest bulbs in the box, here.

Atheists are lukewarm, aren't they? Then God does not like lukewarm people:
"I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other!"
Revelation 3:15

You know, I've never seen an atheist purchase an iced coffee or even a hot coffee.

And according to Creationism by Kent Hovind, the Big Bang is absent. I see a clear connection.

I wonder how many Orthodox clergy endorse Hovind...
