Is promiscuous sexual behavior healthy?

So some promiscuity is ok? How is promiscuity showing weakness, some might argue that it is showing boldness.

I have to ask, are you referring to female promiscuity or male promiscuity. Because if you include male promiscuity, you are arguing against evolution (which you used to support an argument elsewhere). Looking at evolution, a man has the best chance of reproducing by mating with as many females as possible. For females, this kind of behavior is not advantageous as she just needs to mate with one male. However there are other forces at work here and promiscuity may be advantageous to help find the best male.

You do realize this statement invalidates all your other arguments on several posts.

If it is ok for males to be promiscous who can they be promiscous with? According to your arguments:

Can they be promiscous with women? No, because women cannot reciprocate.

Can they be promiscous with prostitutes? No, that is immoral for the woman.

Can they be promiscous with other men? No, that is an abomination.

Healthy: definitely not healthy. Neither physically (infections/diseases which are incredibly common and almost inevitable if you have multiple sex partners) and psychologically can be disastrous for some people.

Normal: Yeh it's pretty normal to want to have sex with multiple people.

Praiseworthy: I think it is overall stupid (lacking in intelligence) behaviour so definitely not praiseworthy.

Maybe it was the language you use.

While I'm all for sexual freedom, I think respect for oneself, mutual respect between partners, trust and responsibility are very important when it comes to sexual practice. For example, getting drunk at a party and allowing random, anonymous guys of dubious character run trains on you is not really something you would want to gloat about.

As far as my wording goes. I was actually commenting on an article about a psychologist named Kanazawa who reaches controversial, and often racist conclusions, through his supposedly objective experiments. He has recently been given a blog on the site Big Think.

The author of the article I was commenting on has an atheist blog on the same site and was writing about his disapproval of this psychologist being given an outlet for his pseudoscience. I was agreeing with the author.

Here was my comment that got some people bent out of shape:

From Kanazawa's post,

"My initial suspicion was that this might be because black females and Asian males were less physically attractive than their competitors"

That this was his initial hypothesis tells me much about him. Why couldn't it be "Maybe the asian males and black females are studying more or perhaps more involved in campus activities and thus and don't have time for sexual relationships"? or "maybe they have more self respect and cultural incentive to not sleep around?"...nope, he jumps instantly to "they're innately fugly and biologically inferior mates" What a jerk!

The criticism of my comment was that I was supposedly saying that "people who have a healthy sex life lack self respect" I was accused of "**** shaming" The implication of the counter comments being that sleeping around is a sign of a healthy sex life and that black females and asian males aren't healthy if they aren't promiscuous. I countered that sleeping around isn't healthy and is a behavior mostly due to college rebellion after no longer living with "mommy and daddy"...thus this topic.

In everyday life I've run across quite a few guys who brag about sexual conquests and imply that I'm gay just because I'm picky about mates.
