Is prostitution "immoral"?

Wow... Interesting thread. I've been browsing through. I didn't actually read every single page. I'm wondering if anyone has posted on this thread that is or has been a prostitute?

I have been and I do not think it is immoral. I think that 2 consenting adults should be able to do whatever they want, whether there is monetary exchange or not. When you start telling people what they can or can not do in their own private time, where does it stop? Who says what is ok? Morality is subjective.

Since I have prostituted, 2 different times in my life actually, if anyone would like to ask any questions feel free.

Edit: Not just 2 times. I mean 2 different periods of time in my life. When I was 18 for several months and also just last year for several months.

Hmm, interesting to hear from an actual prostitute:

Do you think it'd be easier to be a prostitute if it were legal or the same as it is?

You can think whatever you want. I prostituted for the first time at 18 for an escort agency in Utah. It is big business there actually. A lot of money to be made. And I just quit being an independent escort in December here in Oklahoma.

I think that it should at least be decriminalized. When i worked in Utah I was caught up in a sting. It was at a hotel in downtown Salt Lake. They did them very often. The company would screen calls to the best of their ability. I definitely had a feeling it was a cop, but didn't go with my gut instinct. It was terrible. About 5 cops came in with ski masks on and started yelling at me to get my clothes on. They had their guns drawn actually. Really what could i do as a 120 pound, naked, 18 yr old girl. lol. Anyways, I think that legalization could really help. It could make it safer for everyone involved. But at the very least decriminalization. As long as it's consenting adults there should be no problem.

Cynthia you seem surprised that there are really prostitutes lol.

Do you think there are no prostitutes that read forums. We are real people. And no we aren't all std ridden drug addicts on the corner lol. We have real families and real lives.

How can we verify this information. I want to see ID.

It does have that feel to me too, it seems convenient, but it could equally be genuine.

In any event flat out (and publicly) accusing someone of sock puppetry based on their first post doesn't seem on. Report her post and let the mods look into it if you have strong suspicions, no need to throw that kind of accusation around.

Lol. Not too sure how that would prove i was a prostitute. I guess you could look up my record in Utah. Unfortunately I got a solicitation charge from that sting.

Like I said you don't have to believe me. I wanted to post on this to give people the chance to see a perspective from someone that has been in the business. You can ask me anything you want really. I have plenty of real memories, some that aren't so great. But it's not a part of my life that I'm ashamed of in any way and it isn't something that i would change.

You'll have to excuse her, she's got this one preconceived notion of what a prostitute is. You don't come across as a self loathing, uneducated, drugged up skankbag so, to her, you must be lying. Besides, having someone here who is, or has worked as, a prostitute makes it that much harder for her to be insulting about it and use broadbrush stereotypes.

You're a very brave young lady! Thanks for commenting. My only question to you would be, did you at any point enjoy what you were doing? Like a regular that you got to know more than just sexually.

Some people are fine having sex for money, some aren't. Some people are fine stripping for money, some aren't. Some people are fine working two, full-time minimum wage jobs to make ends meet, some aren't. It's naive and small-minded to project our own standards of what we find okay onto others. Jobs and behaviors having to do with sex are a popular target, because so many people have deep, powerful issues with sex themselves. They find it hard to believe it isn't the biggest issue in the world for other people.

I'm gonna have to pick up my roommate from work right now and run a few errands. I will be back a little later. It sucks trying to reply on my phone.

Anything is possible.
I've been accused of not being what I say.
I'll take people at face value until I spot inconsistencies.
Note that madchis hasn't called you a Poe.
