Which of these authors were given death threats and assassination sentences by the Western authorities? Which of their publishing offices were firebombed?
Tell me why were those books banned?

Muslims are anti free speech because they don't talk. Or answer questions. But apparently they post questions. Its not like we are trying to kill them or something. This article lists many recent instances of Western publishers and authors being threatened for criticizing Islam:

If Muslims want respect from non-Muslims, they have to stand openly and clearly against these sorts of attacks against modernity. I know, how about a new denomination of Islam that openly and clearly defines itself as a supporter of modern human rights and liberties?
So if the Quran created incitement somewhere by people who found the idea of Mohammed marrying a child offensive, would it then be justified to ban the Quran in that location? The bottom line is any book that creates incitement are banned by the so called modern World.
We in Islam do not have a problem with those banning.

No, I can't. So are you saying that Mohammed sinned by marrying Aisha? That's not something I've ever heard a Muslim say before. Regardless, if a group of people found something about the Quran offensive enough to be incited over, is that enough for a ban? If not, then why should other books or comments which cause incitement be banned? Can you provide the verse in Quraan that states marrying of children is permissible?
Say what you want to say just let the words fall out oh honestly I want to see you be free!!!!!

I don't want the Quran to be banned at all. I'm just using your own line of reasoning that a book should be banned if it causes incitement. So if the Quran caused incitement, would that be grounds for banning? If not, then why ban any other book? I'm also still curious about your position on whether Mohammed sinned by marrying Aisha or not.Note i did not say anything. Its your suggestion to ban the Quraan but you are ignorant of its contents.
Further are you aware that there are thousands of books that are banned in many countries because it leads to incitement?
My point is why the double standards.

Hey farouk,
On this forum there are lots of non-Muslims who have studied Islam in detail. Some of us have read several translations of the Quran cover to cover.
You seem to be in the habit of calling people ignorant. I find that offensive. Perhaps we should ban you?
I want to echo Luis on this. When I read the Quran it strikes me that the "conservative form" you mention is the most in keeping with the Quran's many instructions. Don't get me wrong, I'm heartened whenever I talk to a Muslim that's not "conservative" as you say, but my sense is that it's you guys that are in the minority.
Well habla Akbar! Thanks for talking to me. I haven't read the book. I really need pointer facts for conspiracies. Of course as such you cant call it a conspiracy, if it is a conspiracy, then they call it knowledge and because they called it knowledge, they get upset your looking into it.Are you happy with the book The Da Vinci Code?
