The option on the poll said:

Add a prayer/well wishes frubal.

That is not how I'd describe the thing you evidently had in mind

The thing you had in mind is a prayer frubal, not a prayer/well wishes frubal
What did have in mind, then?

I've changed my vote to "other"

I think there should be two new frubals

A prayer frubal and a best wishes frubal

I'd want to be able to send someone my well wishes without bringing God into it
Back when I worked at the station, I would greet someone every day by putting my hands together and bowing, and I do the same with others that understand the gesture. It has nothing to do with "God."

Yet the symbol you want to use clearly signifies prayer and would be recognised as such by a great many people, especially if it was named "prayer frubal"

It's religious and prayer can also mean something to non-religious people. I'm rather tired of the secularisation of everything.

I'm not in favor of something like this to indicate well wishes.

How does that mean prayer in your mind?
I think prayer is petitioning God

Which is all well and good, nothing wrong with that

But it is quite different to sending somebody your best wishes and telling them you care

Quite often when people pray for someone they are also sending their best wishes

The two are distinct but often coincide

I think people are conflating the two

This is a religious forum and people are put out by religious symbols?

Come on, guys.
I'd have no objection to a prayer frubal

But think there should be a best wishes option too

I think that would make more sense and be more inclusive

As I said, you do you. Cast your vote and move on.

Sgt. Pepper

All you need is love.
I think if we are going to use something like this, it should perhaps replace the current "friendly" frubal, because I feel it would be redundant.

But this thread is about adding frubal that looks like this: :praying:

In my opinion, this symbol does not imply "well wishes" in the least. It clearly implies prayer, which is something I and a few other members object to.

Then it would have been prudent to ask for clarification before voting yes, because the OP clearly says "prayer."

Namaste, that symbol, means "I honor the light within you" (or something close) and has nothing specific to do with caring for someone except in the most universal sense.
