Guess that depends upon the data being entered....
Sitting at a computer and entering and crunching numbers is not even comparable to the difficulty of working McDonalds, especially during lunch/dinner rush (I've done both).

Okay, so a failing older business has left California.

And it is replaced by dozens of other newer, more lucrative coffee houses. We, in fact, have a thriving coffee industry, and one of the most intense microroastery scenes in the entire country. So where's the crisis?

The same is true of advanced automotive research, the Toyota move notwithstanding, and its pretty funy that to make that one about minimum wage laws, you have to ignore almost everything anyone at the company has actually said about the news.

I've had the phantom beeps (more like nightmare beeps), I've had some nasty burns, and even had to get stitches from a few cuts, but it gets far worse than what that site mentions. Having people call you stupid, or other degrading terms (stupid is actually pretty light), the customers who take their crappy days/lives out on you, the ones who eat most of their meal and then want to complain there is something wrong with it and get really crappy because they expect a replacement even though the first 3/4ths of the meal was good enough, the ones who order their food and drive an hour home and call to complain the food isn't fresh, and then there are those ******** who throw their food and drinks at you. And, of course, there is the expectation that you will do a hundred different things all at once.
And this Muslim girl I knew who worked at McDonald's, OMG the customers treated her so horribly.

You asked when and where.

Yes, this has more to do with the constant increase in taxes and regulation. The issue in in growth. It's doing ok, despite the government. There's reason behind that, like our movie industry and tech labor pool. Still we could be doing much better. The government and government employees are getting richer and not doing much for the sustainability of the state.

The wage increase is not that big of deal really. There are ways for businesses to deal with it.

Those jobs shouldn't be the jobs people are going to make a career of, unless they plan to move into management. Unfortunate that folks settle into these jobs instead of taking the opportunity to improve themselves. Increasing the wage keeps them stuck there longer.

Education costs suck too. That's where the real focus should be. Equal opportunity for a higher level education. Of course a smarter populace might threaten the status quo in the government.

I meant, when has a state economy ever crashed because the minimum wage for an industry was raised. Because that doom and gloom scenario is being tossed around quite a lot here, and if we're going to use it to deny people fundamental rights, I want to see empirical data for it first. While you're at it, show me evidence that fair wages encourage people to "settle into" low earning and extremely unpleasant jobs and not seek better employment. Because that sounds ridiculous to me. People who are working two jobs apiece to keep their family afloat are much more chained to them than people with a small reserve of savings. And they tend to fail my classes, if they manage to enroll in them at all, because McDonalds doesn't give a flying fig if you have a exam to take on a night when they want to "call you in" and they never have any reason not to fire someone.

Hopefully not too many. People that live with their parents and spend their free time blogging on the internet about how unfair it is they don't get promoted beyond burger flipper or fry cook. There are management positions to move into, even at McDonald's.

If you think that is what things are like for most McDonald's employees, you have no idea whatsoever what real life is like and should stop dispensing advice to people as though you did.

So you think folks ought to be happy with their lot in life? Sorry, I like to encourage people to always look for opportunity for improvement, especially within themselves.

Actually the point is the loss of jobs with the increase of wages.

Probably why the Feds aren't increasing the minimum wage. Job loss never makes the voters happy.

Otherwise sure, business will adjust. Prices will increase and more poor folk will get left behind.
